It's sad that this has to be a hot take. But I 100% agree with you man!

Gang Beasts, a very minimalist game is one of the most fun games I’ve ever played, I’ve played GTA n Red Dead Redemption too.

This is how I feel surrounding gta. Everyone says it's the best game ever released, but I simply never enjoy myself whenever I try to play it. Meanwhile, I can play something like Dead Cells for hours. I've loved games reviewers gave a 5 and below. It really is all subjective.

And that's why my top 1 favorite game of all time is Godhand and Fez, one is a shitty looking ps2 game that controls weird as hell and the other is a simple pixel art puzzle game.

I’ve been preaching this for the last couple of years. I really don’t care about competitive play (with the exception of rivals) or accolades. Is it fun?! Since then I’ve opened up a whole door of shit i wouldn’t have played in the past and I’m so much happier

Great take. I do believe though if there is a game out of your typical genre or style of games and it IS critically acclaimed, then you should try them when they re cheaper. Like im not a souls buy but I will play black myth wu Kong and elder ring on sale
