My government is trying to do two incompatible things simultaneously. On the one hand, it’s trying to fix our broken welfare system while saving money. This is not possible, and I told the minister in parliament today that her £5billion cut to disability support would increase hardship in my... show more

Notice how she completely dodged the fucking question. She refuses to accept the FACT that some people simply cannot work, or even if they can, will never find an employer willing to make the appropriate adjustments, and slashing their welfare isn't going to change that.

Why are all the Labour MP’s not going to fight this?

Agreed. What the Government need to do is actually address the causes of long term sickness and disability.

Low-income Americans who voted for Trump say they are counting on him to keep their benefits intact even while his Cabinet picks and Republican lawmakers call on him to reduce federal spending.

I will never vote for Labour again. I can’t. This is the ultimate betrayal. Not just for disabled people, but for all their non disabled family members who be forced out of work and into unpaid care. Labour will never recover from this.

MPs need to start ising the word "suicide", because that's what telling people they're not sick enough to deserve benefits causes. I've known two people that died this way, and I'm sure all this politic-ing about the moral virtue of work is going to kill more.

I can’t see a way forward for me Clive, she talked about supporting the most vunerable but under the proposed points system I will not qualify for any help at all. I have advanced cancer, I have daily chemotherapy in tablet form, I am chronically ill. Assisted dying?

When will these ignorant morons understand that imposing hardship and poverty among working people will only stifle economic growth and imposing hardship on sick and disabled can only increase the tax burden in other areas, this is not rocket science.

Will you resign from the party in protest?

My wife has had to endure the trauma of the PIP appeal process even though her mental & physical health is worse than what it was 3 or 4 yr ago & should never have got to the appeal stage. Now that some criteria has been made stricter. I can only see a bleak future. Thanks Labour

Liz Kendal must be forced to resign. Back benchers must rebel. Don’t back down.
