My next washer and dryer will definitely be a speed queen

There will be a massive amount of research going into my next major appliance purchase and it will NOT be Samsung or LG 😑

Every time I see something about those two it’s about them breaking

Every single time! I don't ever remember anyone having to replace appliances when I was growing up unless they had already owned it 20 years.

My washing machine is a Kenmore I bought in the late 90s.

The one I have now is from the early 00’s

@RebeccaMtn My mom’s washer and dryer are about the same age as me. They’re so inefficient now and who knows how much they’ve cost because of it, but they’re still running and she refuses to replace them.

@washghost1 The money they cost in electricity is far less than the cost of replacing a washer every 5-10 years.

My parents owned a laundromat that had all speed queens. They are some fine pieces of machinery. Rarely ever breaking and this place was so busy. Easily 10-15 washes a day for years on end.

I switched to those 15 years ago, still have them and they are working just fine. Stainless steel gears, not plastic, they last FOREVER

The biggest mistake I made was not taking the 1972 Maytag washer and dryer from my parents house when it was sold.

I sold my used speed queen set for more than I paid for them refurbed lol People have figured it out

I wish there was a company that rescued old washers and dryers and rehabilitated them. They could charge current price for the fancy machines and people would still buy them.

I worked on appliances for years, these are built really well.

My daughter bought a pair last year and raves about them. 30 years ago we bought top of the line Maytag... 5 years ago needed to replace just washer so purchased a new Maytag set... total crap since Whirlpool took over Maytag. Already had repairs on dryer. VERY disappointed. If these die... Speed Queen is the brand I'm buying.

Speed Queen was the washer and dryer we had when I was a kid. That thing lasted almost 30 years. Great brand.

Same. But I'm not spending $3k until they up their capacity. We've been asking for years.

$1,749 MRSP!!!! LOL!!! Our simple $400 Whirlpool has lasted 13 years with some very minor repairs that I did myself last year. I can buy 52 years worth of Whirlpools for that price… if these truly are “simple” then they shouldn’t cost that much.

The circuit boards are all made in Mexico & fail quite often since they were bought out 10 years ago. Before the buyout every part in a speed queen was made in America. Most of the parts are now outsourced to 3rd world countries while it's technically ASSEMBLED in the USA.

Speed Queen, Lodge Cast Iron, Ankarsrum, Vitamix, Mielle and Dualit - names that were in a video I once watched about manufacturers that still make quality products that last.

knobs and dials no touch .... I'm so tired of touch that doesn't work.

I got fucked out of my stacked unit. It was just barely too big for the space. Still nursing that wound.😞

@TheSandovalien They suck in in that when i had one it was a connected combo. One part went, the other part worked but ….

I have a Speed Queen washer and dryer set similar to this but white. An appliance repair guy told me to go with Speed Queen and he was right. They are great. Simple, solid, built for commercial use. I wish new cars were built like this too.

I have a Speed Queen washer and dryer that I bought six years ago. They're OK. Yes, there's an agitator. They still don't fill up all the way with water. I had to get the dryer belt repaired once and I think I'm going to have to again. The control panel on the washer has never been right. They're better than a front loader, but still don't hold a candle to the beast we all had in the 80s.

Good but overrated. Had one for a few years and it was good but no better than my previous washing machines and dryers. The washer had a pretty significant flaw with drainage

I just got these....it's like time traveling back to do laundry in the 1960's. Your clothes come out aggressively washed/dried.

We’ve got a set. Not quite large enough for King comforters. Also have some larger, stacked ElectorLux. They do the trick for bigger loads a little better and seem as dependable (so far)

Agitator is everything, otherwise the clothes don’t really get clean 😆

100% recommend theses. Top tier quality, meant to last and are not made of cheap material. Closest thing you can get to old school kenmore quality

My Speed Queen likes to start itself in the middle if the night. Aside from that it’s a great machine

@BadBitchCornPop Not a fan of top loaders. The agitator is harsh on clothing. Front loaders also use significantly less water than top loaders. Hope it lasts a long time for you. 👍🏼
