“Just simple videos.” Nah we’re past that and it’s wild. We’re shipping launch videos to the OpenAI YouTube channel with it. It’s really good.

Continue to be blown away by every new model. I’ve been editing with this stuff since late January and the progress is just so cool.

Wandering when it will learn how to color grade properly? about 80-90% of the process is pure math, but the rest 10% is artistic choice. On the video - your skintone is green because of the trees around and technically this is correct, yet no colorist will let it look that way

Wtf Brian, all of these things were cool for sure, but when you showed the difference in audio I was like 🤯

That's a DaVinci standard! Astra just knew how to use it correctly

I used to do a fair amount of video editing many years back. I did try Davinci for some simple lyric style videos for some AI gen music but I didn't yet spend the time to really see what it was capable of. Your videos and posts push me over the line to find a reason to make more!

gotcha yeah the main bottleneck i think is and i'm sure this can already get to a very high level if you do a bunch of ping-ponging with it as has been already using things like hyperframes, capcut cli (unofficial) etc but was not done in computer use rather via CLI .. i thjink MCP is mostly the same - in your case is not using COMPUTER USE correct? because there have been different demos..

Techguyver's profile picture
Techguyver10 hours ago

yeah main thing is they have a MCP that is open AF vs unnoficial capcut "cli" so its just a lot better relationship i imagine more editors will follow suit very soon and this will be applicable across most editors + computer use which can do things u might not have via mcp / cli

Via davinci mcp?

It’s not though, sure Claude and Codex can connect to Resolve and do technical things but these models don’t have real time vision to be able to look at a clip and objectively decide when to add a cut. Been trying all day to get it to cut a simple trailer with no good results.

What editor do you recommend that isn't davinci resolve. Surely there is open-source one the models are good at?

Thanks for your sharing...I know it could be hard to share powerful secrets, we wanna keep them, but we have to be open to push the boundaries and whole planet further!

Love this. I used to record a daily vlog back before my marriage ended. Would be cool to have Astra go through the hundreds or thousands of hours of raw footage and make some weekly or monthly recaps that exclude a certain someone so I can still have those memories of my children’s early years but not have to see said someone.

Very nice! Might try, but being careful with token budget now that new Pro accounts are paused.

This makes daily vlogging way more viable. You can even automate the uploading with computer use including all the SEO. That's totally worth $200/month to me. I don't think the current credits would last for 30 vids though with Astra. Next gen in a few months though...

This is very cool and amazing. But why isn't anyone talking about the cost? Editing with astra burns your credits so fast and simple edits couor cost way more than hiring an editor. I love the technology. Don't get me wrong. But the cost is still too high
