to be fair, my 40 yrs coding experience went about a year ago when opus 4.5 came out - fortunately I stopped being a pure dev about 20 yrs ago & took early retirement last year absolutely amazed how much tech has changed in a year - when I left my job, I was the only person (where I worked) using AI I warned them at the time it was going to completely destroy the company's entire business model, which relied heavily on ppl filling out technical application forms I showed them how, even a year ago, AI could give better answers than any of the top tire applicants we had received (inc from google), but I seemed to be talking to a wall, so I left them to it

What level thinking did you use? Did you notice any difference from low to max if you did swop around?

How is Astra better at it than sol or other lower models? I’ve been meaning to try out Astra just been wicked busy. My Claude agents have been editing in resolve for months by now (Could be gpt agents or grok bots or whatever) - there’s a couple davinci MCP’s that have been in the wild for some time. Was doing this with sonnet and opus 4.5 - I don’t bother with fable cause it eats tokens and lower models can handle most of the lift pretty well. Do you see a lot better results with Astra? Does it get “taste” better? Can it make judgements on whether a scene is cut well?

I tried it out, It’s technically good at doing things like importing, building stringouts, condensing long form interview footage. But it’s bad at taste. I think we need a totally different kind of vision model that understands taste and emotion before we can start panicking.

Staring at a computer screen clicking around for hours with a mouse and keyboard was always a temporary mechanical solution to the problem at hand. We just got used to it.

Editing is one of my favorite processes and there's no way on God's green earth AI can edit the way we want or see.

the irony is: years mastering davinci resolve while the real skill is knowing what to cut, when, why it works. AI can execute. can't feel the rhythm yet 🫠

Haven't you tried this with Sol? It will likely do the same, so it's not an Astra phenomenon.

the agent digging through your music library is the part that gets me. trim and subtitles were always scriptable, resolve has had an API for years. what's new is reliable vision-based GUI control, and that transfers to any software you use
