Yeah but no. It's just hallucinating random faces it has no idea what they look like

As an API my model is live on @fal

Available to use on my website

lol it turned an Asian guy into a Mexican

But are they really looking like this? I just always have to think of the prime example of an "awesome upscaler"

The best upscaler

Thank you!

crazy and scary at the time

yes 😅

Did it? You can't enhance details that don't exist in the source. Inventing details that don't exist is not enhancing. This would not be admissible in court.

I want this but whenever you enhance someone it's always fred armisen's face

this is useful if you don't understand how upscaling and loss works

No it didn't. It started making stuff up.

The images looks sharp and detailed, but there's zero evidence that the people "zoomed in" on actually look anything like the enhanced result. Depending on use case, this can be extremely dangerous.

somewhere a csi writer just whispered 'told you'

He went from asian to mexican

if you want to advertise it to someone who is not AI bro, you need to create honest comparison, actually how person look vs your upscaler restoration. because face restoration models just image stuff, they don't know how person actually look.

FBI loves this

dayum, and the price is..?

Faces are the worst targets for a strong upscaler. It’s clearly hallucinating critical details that are impossible to recover.

oh.... this is cool

@CSINY_CBS i am sorry for mocking you.

so you made an AI to hallucinate nonexistent detail in images? sounds super useful and hasn't been done before!

That's wild

so my screenshots finally stopped looking like a low‑res meme. AI upscalers turned "computer, enhance" from movie gag into a daily annoyance. enjoy the new high‑def blur.

Danm that's extreme

damnnn

Every time I see one of these AI upscalers, I can’t help but wonder just how much “Creative Generation” is actually built into them. wanna see a comparison between a HiRes photo actually taken w/ a DSLR & the result of applying AI upscaling to a degraded ver of that same photo.

What is this? Got a similar id like to test

damn!

Upscaling is where most pipelines still lose detail.

wow insane precision

is that topaz?

ngl i thought it was the photos of marathon bombers

There's obvious issue but many phones do it by default. Photos are not photo anymore. I would recommend setting the resolution to high like 100MP, lowering the sensitivity, and fixing the camera in place while taking a picture during the red light.
