This is actually a relatively new dish called Spaghetti all'Assassina (Assassins Spaghetti) created in Bari in Puglia, Italy during the 60's. The crunch and the bitterness of the burned pasta balances the sweetness of the sauce. It's absolutely delicious when done properly.

All that for just some shitty noodles and sauce should be considered a crime
