My Wife’s vibe coded her first app and here it is in action today She created a ticket and check in system for a charity event in Vietnam. Every existing system is fully online but a lot of the elderly in Da Nang don’t have phones or don’t know... how to use technology. This app lets you design and print out physical tickets for distribution and then lets staff scan the ticket so that it can’t be reused. You also take a photo of the person and facial recognition makes sure people don’t slip back in line a second time. She is a product lead and a designer but has no engineering background. Vibe coding is not just about making MRR. It empowers everyone to build useful tools for the real world.show more

THIS DAD VIBE CODED A LANGUAGE LEARNING APP FOR HIS DAUGHTER THAT LETS KIDS POINT THEIR CAMERA AT ANYTHING AND LEARN THE WORD he made it so his daughter could point her phone at anything around her and learn the word for it you take a photo of an object, the app removes the background, identifies what it is, and teaches you the word in whatever language you're learning the ui and animations are clean, polished, and the app is easy to use he started building it for his kid and got obsessed with making it perfect the app won an apple design award which is one of the hardest things to get in the entire iOS ecosystem. apple picks like 12 apps a year out of millions it went from a dad building something for his daughter to one of the best designed apps on the app store

Linear CEO Karri Saarinen says some companies are using "friction forms" to help engineers break through bureaucracy and get new AI tools approved faster: "There are a lot of companies where employees ask, 'Can I use agents?' and they say, 'No, you can’t.' And they don’t really have a reason for it, or they say, 'We have to evaluate it,' and that evaluation takes months." "This has to change. The industry is moving so fast, so you cannot have month-long, multi-month processes to evaluate every single new tool. I think the security standpoint is valid, but you have to figure out a new way to think about security and not just block new tools." "One hack I’ve seen at some companies is that they have this friction form. So engineers who feel friction and want to use new tools or AI file a friction form, and that escalates it to higher leadership. Then it makes an SLA that has to be resolved in a week or 10 days." "And so you force the hand of procurement, IT, and security people to do something about it. Because the incentive a lot of times in these jobs is that you don’t want to rock the boat, so you don’t want to change things if you don’t have to."

Vince Staples voiced his support for Jhené Aiko following the release of her album *Westside Whimsy*, praising her longevity and highlighting how widely her musical style has been adopted: “I don’t know how to explain this artist, but… you have to be there to kinda see it. And Jhené been around for a very, very, very long time, making a musical style that has been adopted. She has a lot of sons in the rap game, as LL Cool J would say. A lot of [people] don’t know that came from LL or KRS-ONE. You don’t go that far back in the fucking music. We take this shit serious… Sorry, I got upset for a little bit.”

Indian real estate is in a real bubble, but it is not bursting any time soon. A lot of big people are involved in it, and they will never want that real estate to be in the hands of common people. It is a hub of corruption. It is a hub of black money, and it will never go away. You will have to pay 1 crore for a 2 BHK house, and you will keep paying emails for your life.

how to use Google's NEW open source Design.md + AI Skills to make your startup look like a $100 million company in 1 hour: 1. Design.md is an open source file from Google that captures the soul of a design. Typography, colors, spacing, all in one markdown file. You attach it to your prompt and your agent builds beautiful things every time. 2. Think of it this way. The HTML is the finished dish. The design.md is the recipe. The skills are the ingredients. Put them together and everything you build looks consistent and professional. 3. Don't create a design system from scratch. Find a brand you love. Linear, Stripe, Vercel, whatever resonates. Study it. Use ChatGPT or Claude to help you extract the design language into your own design.md file. 4. Build skills on top of your design.md. A landing page skill. A mobile app skill. A motion design skill. A slide deck skill. Each one references the same design.md so everything looks like it came from the same designer. 5. The biggest mistake people make: they nail one screen and then everything else looks generic. Design.md solves this. One file keeps every page, every format, every medium consistent. 6. Use it across everything. Your landing page. Your app. Your pitch deck. Your promo videos. Same DNA. Same taste. Same system. That's what separates a startup that looks real from one that looks vibe-coded. 7. Build a second brain for design inspiration. When you see something beautiful in the real world or online, capture it. Save it. When you're building something new, reference it. Taste is developed, not downloaded. 8. It's obvious but the difference between a product people trust and a product people bounce from is how it looks and feels. Design.md gives you that edge. you can watch below shoutout to Meng To for coming on The Startup Ideas Podcast (SIP) 🧃 and walking through his full workflow. if you want to use AI to actually build gorgeous designs, you'll want to use see this. watch

Today is Sena's birthday! And today is also World Health Day — fitting, for someone who shows up wherever there is someone in need. She is blunt and direct, but that is because she knows her feelings do not show on her face, so she makes sure to say things plainly instead. She is the kind of person who shows up an hour and a half early to a meeting place and simply waits, without making much of it. Today might be a good day for Sensei to be the one to show up first. She is probably already waiting. #BlueArchive

Satoshi Roundtable is later this week. Tech Talk Tuesdays in Dubai asked me about the upcoming event: “My hope is that have for this week is that we embrace what this industry is all about. It’s not about Blackrock, or CBDCs or the filthy broken fiat system - it’s about an alternative to that. A lot of people can point to many broken things in our world. And the root of what is broken is because of the broken money system. The money system is broken. There is death and destruction because of a broken money system and what this technology represents is something different than that. It’s an alternate to that. And that’s what makes it unique and that’s what makes it valuable.”

I downloaded this app so you don’t have to. Politics aside, this is an incredibly horrible app that feels so bad it couldn’t have even been vibe coded. The app launches to a very loud and bright (and compressed) video explaining what the app does. There are 5 different font families throughout the app. The article viewer is just a WKWebView but has a custom scroll view (why?!). Every header is sticky and opaque for no reason. Opening a tab for the first time in a session flashes a white screen. Looking up anything just shows “why the democrats are evil” type stuff about anything that might show the Republican Party as negative. The app constantly freezes. Every button takes about a second or two to load the content before doing anything visually (like switching tabs). This app does not understand safe areas. Without any animation it randomly kicks you into a full screen view asking to enable notifications. The header shrinks slightly when animating for no reason. If the content doesn’t expand beyond the screen height (like a failure to load) then it will just jitter. There is no color contrast. No color even makes sense.

I woke up this morning to find the Glacier app sitting at #10 in the Productivity section of the App Store. In just under a week, we’re right behind ChatGPT. I can’t thank you all enough. The support tickets and feedback you’ve sent have given our developers a clear picture of what to fix, and it’s made a real difference. Please keep it coming, because that feedback is what makes Glacier better. I also saw a lot of comments asking about access in the EU. Yes, Glacier is available there. And for everyone asking about Android, it’s in the works. I don’t normally ask for favors, but if you have a minute, we’d greatly appreciate a review on the App Store. Thank you for the support. She’s so right here. So right. People do not want a return to how things used to be. They want something better. I just wish she could condense what she said here in a minute and 30 seconds into 20 seconds or 30 seconds or 40 seconds, so people don’t tune out. She is so thoughtful and so deliberative in everything she says that she loses people in trying to make her point. I think this is why so many accuse her of this “word salad” nonsense. It’s not because she doesn’t know what she’s talking about, it’s because her prosecutor mind weighs the weight of every single word as she’s delivering a point. I don’t know how she retrains herself, but in this ecosystem she has to be able to just deliver the line, the thought, in a way that is concise. Like it or not, people have no attention span anymore.

Emirati journalist and strategic affairs expert Amjad Taha: "You cannot be more Muslim than me. You will not be more Arab than I. So how is it that I have banned the Muslim Brotherhood (the fountainhead of Islamic terrorism) but you haven't? Why is that Islamic Relief (a pro terrorist charity) is banned in the UAE and Mecca but is allowed in London and Paris? A person in the UAE is Muslim and conservative but a Muslim of a similar background in France or Britain is more likely to become radicalised and likely to become a member of ISIS or the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist organisation. The media in the West justifies the existence of the Islamic Relief as a charity organisation. Why? It's not a charity. It takes money from the West and gives it to terrorists like Hamas."

Introducing Kombai 2.0 - the first AI design engineer. We keep hearing that AGI is almost here. Still, we’re stuck with coding agents that don’t have taste and design tools that don’t understand our codebase. Both are artifacts of a world where design and engineering were two different jobs, with a handoff in between. That world is changing fast. Today, designers ship code, engineers want to escape handoffs, and everyone wants to build tasteful UX. Kombai is built for this new world. Design and engineering, finally on the same side.

Michele Catasta (Michele Catasta) President of Replit (Replit ⠕) says "AGI for vibe-coding is coming earlier than 2028": "I would expect by the end of 2026, a lot of the core functionalities that models and agents have to have, in order to become very good vibe coding workhorses, will be there". "Literally the bottleneck would become grit, determination, if you want to take the time and, you know, invest a bit of money to make it happen". "No vibe coding tool today is absolutely perfect... but the amount of creativity that they unleash is second to none."

Happy to properly launch Anna, the proactive AI agent for parents! Uncovering a bit of the technology behind the scenes! Building Anna is where I learned: 💾 Memory as plain text sucks. You need structured memory. Like a full-blown PostgreSQL DB that stores your tasks and calendar in a structured manner. Most harnesses are good at coding-related stuff. Let it do the query. Don't let it vibe-search the memory. Let it vibe your SQL query 💭 Dreaming is a useful concept for enhancing memory to feed the LLM context. But DO NOT vibe your dream. Asking your agent to "hey, just dream and keep the relevant memory around" is a recipe for deleting a bunch of important information and keeping trash around. Your dream needs to have some Taxonomy (or better, Ontology). What information is important? For who? With what object? What can they do? And again, these are impossible to describe and act well without a proper schema 🔄 Loop Engineering is important for smoothing out rough edges in the system we build. But even expensive loop engineering with a state-of-the-art model can't out-engineer bad system design. The highest leverage an AI Engineer can do is actually building the right system design, and having an eye on both product delight and engineering scalability There are several more insights that I plan to cover in a dedicated video about Agentic AI Engineering. But it's actually a huge relief that the future of software engineering... is still software engineering
