The Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam has entered the crucial Southwest Monsoon season of 2026 with one of its poorest water positions in recent years, raising concerns over the sluggish progress of rainfall in the Cauvery catchment areas of Kodagu. At the same time, the cumulative inflow in the last 20 years was the highest in 2025, with 38.4 tmcft. The inflow trend also presents a worrying picture. At 530 cusecs, the present inflow is the lowest recorded among the 20 years listed, even lower than 547 cusecs in 2009 and 655 cusecs in 2019. By comparison, the reservoir received 13,437 cusecs in 2024, 36,510 cusecs in 2015, 23,867 cusecs in 2013, 11,483 cusecs in 2011 and a staggering 73,811 cusecs last year. Apart from weak monsoon rainfall and poor inflows, another major concern for the KRS Dam is the steady increase in silt accumulation, which has significantly reduced the reservoir's effective storage capacity. The estimated silt deposit and dead storage level at the reservoir remained unchanged at 4.401 tmcft between 2016 and 2023. However, it rose sharply to 8.179 tmcft (silt and dead storage level) in 2024, increased further to 8.379 tmcft in 2025 and has now reached 8.424 tmcft (silt and dead storage level) in 2026.

In July 2023, a low-pressure system (BB5) over the Bay of Bengal brought devastating rains to Telangana. Boosie BadAzz has officially pleaded guilty in his federal firearms case in California and will be sentenced later this year. On Tuesday (Aug. 26), Boosie appeared in federal court in San Diego and entered a guilty plea to being a felon in possession of a firearm before a judge. Boosie spoke to CBS 8 San Diego outside the courtroom. "I want to get it behind me and get on with my life," Boosie said. "A lot of things this case has stopped me from doing, traveling all across the world. So, I just want to get it over with." Boosie was originally arrested in May of 2023 after police discovered firearms in a car the rapper was riding in. The case was dropped by local authorities but picked up by the feds. Boosie initially wanted to take the case to trial. Last July, the case was dismissed again. However, the dismissal was appealed by prosecutors. Boosie's attorney did not reveal any details of the plea agreement. The Louisiana rapper faces a maximum of 15 years. His sentencing date has been scheduled for Nov. 21.

Jamaica still has some of the highest food costs in the world. For years, I’ve exposed hidden hunger, challenged unjust tariffs, and called for policies to lower food prices and support our small farmers. Our tariff and permit system restricts competition, enriches the big players, and leaves small farmers poor, workers underpaid, and families burdened with high prices. We are told these policies protect local industry, but in truth they protect profits and minimize competition. Jamaica imposes a 260% duty on chicken - the highest in our region. Plus, Mexico has suspended its tariffs, while Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua keep theirs at just 15–40%. This outdated system punishes families and fails to build real production capacity. I will not stop fighting until we reform our tariffs, support our farmers, and make local food affordable for every Jamaican. Ireland's housing system is not fit for purpose as it fails to deter vulture funds from buying properties that could be homes for individual buyers. On May 20, 2021, the Irish Government introduced a 10% stamp duty on bulk purchases of residential houses. This measure aimed to discourage large-scale acquisitions by investors and vulture funds. However, the policy has two notable exemptions: bulk buying of apartments in multi-storey buildings with grouped access, and purchases by local authorities and approved housing bodies. These entities are not subject to the 10% stamp duty on bulk purchases of residential houses. This is one of the reasons why the housing system is broken in Ireland. Deutsche Bank's €800 billion investment arm fund has acquired 85% (46 homes) in Belcamp Manor, Dublin 17 for €24.5 million. Originally intended for individual buyers, these properties were being advertised for rent at €3,175 per month (€38,100 per year) by a London-based real estate investment fund on It is no surprise that in the past 13 years, rent in Ireland has doubled, and house prices have increased by 55%, making it the fastest growth in any major EU economy. Currently, vulture funds own 1 in 6 mortgages in the Irish housing market, while Cuckoo funds and the State purchase 42% of new homes. This leaves a record number of first-time buyers competing for the lowest supply of housing stock nationwide in over a decade. There are just over 11,000 homes available for purchase nationally, the fewest since 2012 when 60,000 homes were on the market. The 2022 Census reveals that there are 166,752 vacant homes and 66,135 vacant holiday homes across the country. Out of the vacant homes, almost a third (48,387) have been vacant long-term since 2016 and remain unused. Additionally, the current salary required to buy a new home in Dublin is €127,000, which exceeds even a TD's basic salary of €108,987. Meanwhile, in December 2023, there were 18,648 entire houses/apartments available on the short-term letting platform Airbnb in Ireland. This includes 4,666 listings in Dublin City whilst the number of people living in emergency accommodation reached another record high of 14,429 in July—including 2,096 families (up 14%) and 4,401 children (a 15% rise since July 2023). It was Chandrababu who encouraged litigation when YSRCP government wanted to go ahead with 34 percent reservation to BCs, and now he is playing the same game with polls nearing, but we were ahead of time and gave more than the quota to BCs, he said. The Addanki incident, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said, shows the level of law and order in the State, with police personnel in an inebriated condition hitting an auto and injuring the inmates, while ganja, liquor and a police uniform were found in the boot of the car in which they were travelling. The government tried to cover up the incident with the DSP, SP and the FIR giving different versions, but the incident shows how deep-rooted the nexus between the political, police and other players and the peddling of ganja is going on in an organised manner. BREAKING: Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson ordered clerks to DEFY federal & state law and DELETED ELECTION RECORDS in 7 days instead of the 22 month retention law. Now, Jocelyn Benson will face a new lawsuit. Deleting election records alone should tell you everything you need to know. What were they trying to cover up? A rigged election. Kevin Kijewski of KDK Law explains that Township Clerk Michelle McQueer just sued Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Elections Director Jonathan Brater, and the Michigan Department of State in the Court of Claims over a direct clash between state and federal law on electronic poll book, EPB records. But there's a conflict: - Federal law (52 U.S.C. § 20701): Election records involving federal offices (including the Aug. 4, 2026 primary) must be preserved for 22 months (into June 2028). Willful failure to keep them risks up to 1 year in prison. EPB files show who checked in, when, and on which device. Michigan’s 281 city clerks and 1,240 township clerks (the most decentralized system in the U.S.) all face the same bind. - Michigan Admin. Code R 168.48, effective Oct. 23, 2025: EPB software and files must be deleted within 7 days after certification. Willful destruction of public records risks up to 2 years (MCL 750.491). Refusing to delete risks up to 90 days (MCL 168.931(1)(g)). The state rule creates an impossible choice, delete and risk federal prosecution, or keep the records and risk state prosecution, every path targets the clerk personally. On July 6, 2026, McQueer formally requested a declaratory ruling and stay from Benson and Brater. 37 days of total silence followed. Certification of the Aug. 4 primary is imminent this month. Kevin Kijewski of KDK Law explains that Township Clerk Michelle McQueer just sued Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Elections Director Jonathan Brater, and the Michigan Department of State in the Court of Claims over a direct clash between state and federal law on electronic poll book, EPB records. But there's a conflict: - Federal law (52 U.S.C. § 20701): Election records involving federal offices (including the Aug. 4, 2026 primary) must be preserved for 22 months (into June 2028). Willful failure to keep them risks up to 1 year in prison. EPB files show who checked in, when, and on which device. Michigan’s 281 city clerks and 1,240 township clerks (the most decentralized system in the U.S.) all face the same bind. - Michigan Admin. Code R 168.48, effective Oct. 23, 2025: EPB software and files must be deleted within 7 days after certification. Willful destruction of public records risks up to 2 years (MCL 750.491). Refusing to delete risks up to 90 days (MCL 168.931(1)(g)). The state rule creates an impossible choice, delete and risk federal prosecution, or keep the records and risk state prosecution, every path targets the clerk personally. On July 6, 2026, McQueer formally requested a declaratory ruling and stay from Benson and Brater. 37 days of total silence followed. Certification of the Aug. 4 primary is imminent this month. The 7-day deletion clock starts immediately after. The rulemaking process was deficient: the public notice described only a "secure live connection to the voter file" and never mentioned deletion. No one attended the July 15, 2025 hearing. The two written comments addressed only the connection, not deletion. The rule will also apply to the November general election. Declaratory judgment on whether the state rule can be enforced against the federal preservation mandate, plus an immediate order preserving the existing records while the case is decided. No damages requested. The filing urges the court to act before the November election. "A clerk should never have to choose which law to break." - Counsel Kevin Kijewski of KDK Law. McQueer: "My job is to follow the law and serve the citizens of my township… I asked the state and received no reply, so I am asking a court for relief."

YS Jagan demands CBI probe into DSC scam and alleged irregularities in Group 1 Group 1 raked up only to save Lokesh Nara Tadepalli, Aug 20: Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has demanded a CBI inquiry into irregularities of DSC 2025 and the alleged APPSC Group 1 exams and affirmed that the Group I issue is being raked up only to cover up the DSC issue. Speaking to media here on Thursday, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said, contrary to the allegations levelled by the coalition, APPSC 2018 exams were conducted in a transparent manner and as per Court directives, giving no room for any misappropriation. On the other hand, the conduct of DSC has been shady right from setting of question paper to the recruitment and the father and son had agreed to the irregularities in Assembly while they did not allow the topic to come up in the Council. Giving a detailed account on the irregularities, he said the setting of question paper and conduct of DSC was given to the same institution which has opened the flood gates for corruption and paper leakage. This is how the outsourcing employee Naveen had access to the question paper and had topped the marks list. Once the issue came into the open, his name was deleted in the second merit list and he moved court stating his details were deleted. In the sports quota, the government has issued two GOs exempting the job aspirants from writing the DSC exam. After the favoured people were taken in, the gates were closed by issuing two more GOs negating the earlier ones. In the process, 372 persons got jobs and the government has put up a meek defence by stating that as we have given a job to PV Sindhu, the same norms apply to others in sports quota, he said. None of the 372 persons recruited have played international tournaments and the one who won a gold medal in Archery in the National Games was denied jobs. There are audio clippings which went viral on the job trading but no action was taken. This is why the DSC needs to be probed by CBI and the Education Minister should resign. To save the skin of Lokesh they have raked up APPSC issue but the fact remains that it was conducted in the most transparent manner. The preliminary exams were held when Chandrababu was the Chief Minister. What we have done is the conduct of final exams to those who passed the preliminary exam. With the coalition raising the Group I issue, the future of 163 high-ranking officials is put in jeopardy. Due to Covid we planned to go for digital evaluation but on court direction we had done it by manual evaluation. It was done in the glare of CCTVs in the APPSC office and in Educational Institutions. It was done in a jumbling method and bar code was used and there is no scope of the evaluator knowing the aspirant. We have brought in reforms in the exam system and the allegation of tampering with the marks does not arise and it is done only to underplay the seriousness of DSC scam from leakage to appointments which deserve CBI inquiry and the resignation of Education Minister. Increase the scope of CBI inquiry and bring in Group I exams as well, he said.
