We made progress overnight but there is still more work to be done. Crews - including the mutual assistance support - are rolling out across the city to continue the work of getting power back on to the remaining impacted customers.

Out feeding cattle today. Even in these conditions, linemen still work to keep the power on, crews clear the roads, first responders save lives — and farmers and ranchers feed their livestock. Some work can’t wait.

As our crews anticipated based on the forecast, additional freezing rain and falling trees have caused power outages as the sun has gone down. We understand how important power is, especially in this cold. Know that we are committed to working safely and as quickly as possible to restore your power. Conditions overnight remain challenging with icy roads and winds, but as long as it is safe- we will be working.

One person is dead after a fire broke out at a three-storey mixed-use building near 132 Avenue and 82 Street in northeast Edmonton last night. Fire crews were called to the scene at 9:19 p.m., with the building housing businesses on the ground floor and apartments on the two floors above. The entire building was evacuated and 11 fire crews responded, with between eight and 10 ambulances also dispatched to the scene. It has not yet been confirmed how many people were injured, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Edmonton Police Service closed 82 Street in both directions between 137 Avenue and Yellowhead Trail to allow emergency crews to respond, citing “a collision and fire” in the area without providing further details. Our followers stated that they heard an explosion prior to the fire.
