Military Air Assets Decimate Terrorist Convoy, Neutralize Scores of Fighters in Coordinated Air Offensive Near Cross Kauwa By: Zagazola Makama The Nigerian Military, operating under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), has recorded another significant operational success against ISWAP terrorists following a series of coordinated intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and precision air interdiction missions around Cross Kauwa and Ali Sherifti in northern Borno State. Zagazola Makama learnt that the operation dealt a devastating blow to terrorist logistics and fighting capabilities, resulting in the destruction of multiple vehicles and the neutralisation of several insurgents attempting to regroup within the Lake Chad axis. Sources said the mission commenced late on June 6 when an ISR platform established surveillance over a suspected terrorist hideout at Cross Kauwa, located along a network of tracks concealed within dense vegetation and scattered tree cover. Intelligence-driven reconnaissance revealed a significant concentration of terrorist activity in the area. Military sources disclosed that during the surveillance mission, operators positively identified approximately 12 vehicles concealed beneath trees and observed the movement of suspected terrorists attempting to evade aerial detection by moving between cover positions. The discovery pointed to what appeared to be a major terrorist staging area used for logistics, movement coordination, and possible attack planning.

OPERATION HADIN KAI TROOPS INTERCEPT FOREIGN SUSPECT, RECOVER ILLICIT DRUGS DESTINED FOR TERRORISTS IN THE LAKE CHAD ISLANDS Troops of Sector 3, Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded another significant operational success in their sustained campaign to degrade the logistical networks supporting terrorist activities in the North East. Acting on intelligence, the troops on Thursday, 9 July 2026, intercepted a suspected foreign terrorist drug courier conveying a large consignment of illicit drugs, alcoholic beverages and other prohibited substances believed to be destined for terrorist elements operating within the Lake Chad Islands. The operation was conducted during an intensive search operations along the Maiduguri–Monguno axis, where troops intercepted a suspicious vehicle travelling towards Kwatan Doron Baga in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State. The suspect, identified as Mrs Rachael Samuel (48), a Chadian national from Kelo in Chari-Baguirmi Province, Republic of Chad, was arrested while conveying the prohibited items. Preliminary findings indicate that the recovered substances were being moved to locations within the Lake Chad Islands, an area known to harbour terrorist elements. Items recovered from the suspect include seven compressed bundles of suspected Cannabis sativa weighing approximately 30 kilogrammes, two 10-litre containers of hydromercuric chloride, popularly known as "Suck and Die," one carton containing 48 bottles of dry gin, 61 bottles of herbal alcoholic beverages all with a market street value approximately running into millions of Naira. Other items recovered include, one mobile phone, two Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, personal effects and cash. The suspect is currently in military custody, while all recovered exhibits have been secured pending handover to the appropriate law enforcement agency for further investigation and prosecution in accordance with extant laws. The successful interception further highlights Operation HADIN KAI's determination to deny terrorists access to logistics and supplies that sustain their criminal activities. Available intelligence has consistently shown that illicit drugs and intoxicants are frequently used by terrorist groups to stimulate fighters, suppress fear and facilitate violent operations. By intercepting the consignment before it reached its destination, the troops have disrupted another critical aspect of the terrorists' support network. The Theatre Command commends the vigilance and professionalism of the troops and assures the public that operations against terrorists and their collaborators will continue relentlessly. The public is encouraged to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies in support of ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and security across the North East. Airstrikes Destroy ISWAP Stronghold, Logistics Hub in Borno By Zagazola Makama The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI has sustained its relentless air campaign against terrorist elements in the North-East, destroying a key terrorist enclave and logistics hub during a precision air interdiction mission in Borno State. Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was carried out at about 2:40 p.m. on Friday, July 10. The sources disclosed that the target was located at Yaganari, a notorious terrorist enclave within the Gezuwa general area, where insurgents had reportedly been regrouping and consolidating logistics for planned operations. According to the sources, the strike followed credible intelligence indicating increased terrorist activities and the massing of fighters at the location. “Persistent ISR missions were conducted to verify the intelligence before any engagement. The surveillance platform positively identified multiple terrorist structures, logistics hubs and visible movement of insurgents within the objective area,” one of the sources said. Following confirmation of the hostile activity, the aircraft acquired the designated targets and executed a series of precision attacks in successive passes, delivering onboard munitions with high accuracy. The coordinated strikes destroyed the identified terrorist structures, obliterated logistics facilities and neutralized several terrorists operating within the enclave. Military sources described the mission as another significant setback to terrorist operations in the North-East, noting that the destruction of logistics infrastructure would further degrade the insurgents’ ability to sustain attacks and coordinate movements. The latest operation emphasis on intelligence-driven precision strikes aimed at dismantling terrorist command centres, safe havens and supply networks while supporting ongoing ground operations by troops of Operation HADIN KAI. Security sources said battle damage assessment is ongoing to determine the full extent of the damage inflicted on the terrorist network, while air surveillance over the area has been intensified to exploit the success of the operation and prevent any attempt by surviving fighters to regroup. Until 2020, Nigerian waters were the piracy capital of the world. The deployment of the Falcon Eye maritime domain awareness system fundamentally shifted that reality. A similar domain awareness framework could be replicated in the northeast, with the Nigerian navy asserting full control over the Lake Chad waterways where ISWAP has long found sanctuary.

The operation was carried out on Dec. 14 at Dabar Masara, a location identified as a terrorist stronghold, as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and supply networks. A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the air strike followed credible intelligence indicating the presence of a terrorist workshop and sustained movement of armed elements in the area.
