I stayed overnight in Salleri on a month-long trek covering Gokyo Ri, Chola Pass, and Everest Base Camp in December 2020. Devastating to see such a calamity hit that beautiful place.

A FLOOD OF WOES STRIKES NEPAL AGAIN A massive dry landslide in Gorkha district has blocked the Budhi Gandaki River, triggering a sudden surge of muddy water and debris downstream. As these videos uploaded by Nepalese media and X users show the flood has swept away houses and two suspension bridges and damaged a hydropower project. Authorities have urged residents along the river to evacuate to safer ground as rescue teams assess the damage. The risk now extends along the river corridor towards the Trishuli confluence. No casualties had been reported in the initial surge.
