As of November 2025, China commissioned an estimated 60–70 new coal plants in 2025 alone and continues to invest heavily in coal power. In 2024, coal supplied 54% of China's energy needs. For a ‘developing nation’ China is doing extremely well, Australia however is struggling under goals of Net Zero.

While Canberra insists on shutting mines and dismantling baseload power, Beijing is busy building an empire of coal. China has almost 3,300 plants in total, with nearly 800 more in the pipeline. For every one coal plant in Australia, China operates 66 - up from 57 just four years ago. Australia is crippling its own economy to cut just 1% of global CO2, while China builds two new coal plants every week. Net zero is resulting in unilateral economic disarmament, but only across the West.

LIAR. Bowen is lying to the Australian public. Again. To claim that "the most unreliable part our energy system is coal" is just an unmitigated lie. Coal is backbone of our electricity grid, and it has to flex up and down because of the total unreliability of wind and solar. Australia deserves better than a dishonest liar as Energy Minister.

Why is it okay for Australian coal to be shipped to China, but not for us to use that same coal here? I'm at the Port of Gladstone with Dave Harris, One Nation candidate for Flynn. We've just seen a ship carrying Australian coal to an overseas market. We watch China build 2 new coal plants weekly using OUR coal and we are blowing ours up! Only One Nation's policy supports building more coal-fired power stations that will cut electricity costs by 50% in three years. It's time to put a stop to these destructive policies that are destroying our economy and putting financial strain on everyday Australians. It's time to vote One Nation!

Coal prices have risen internationally but Ukraine had nothing to do with #energy prices rising in Australia. Investment in #solar and #wind is to blame. It is important that the government in this country start facing reality and stop hiding the problem. The #Ukraine has nothing to do with #coal prices in this country. In fact, Australian coal prices did not rise at all under their existing long term contracts for our #coal-fired power stations. The government must stop misleading parliament that rising electricity prices in Australia are due to a war in the Ukraine. Massive solar and wind #subsidies are the cause of Australians suffering some of the highest #electricity prices in the world. Every time a coal fired power station is shut in this country we see yet the another spike in our power bills because unreliable #renewables cannot provide the same inexpensive baseload power supply.
