If the international community is really sincere about disarming Hamas and granting Gaza a new future, then they have to stop treating Hamas as a political entity and understand that it is a terrorist militia. The only way to make a terrorist group disarm is through military power. The only party that can effectively use military power to disarm Hamas is Israel... Yes, Israel, which you have tied its hands in the hope that terrorists will comply with diplomacy! One of them is that, under its name, Islamist extremists and Muslim Brotherhood terrorists can become prime ministers or congressmen. In the Middle East, we in the UAE chose a different path, one that actually works. We built a system where people from democratic countries feel safer walking the streets of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, where they enjoy more rights, better education for their children, and stronger healthcare than in democratic nations in the West. That does not make democracy bad. It simply means it suits you, not necessarily us. Because when democracy was tried in Gaza, it gave power to Hamas. In Egypt, it brought the Muslim Brotherhood. In Libya, it handed the country to militias. What suits you does not have to fit me. Every society must craft a system that reflects its own values, threats, and vision. We in the UAE have zero tolerance for antisemitism, extremism, or hate. Meanwhile, in places like London or Paris, you can become a media hero if you preach it. Before the October 7 massacre, Hamas proudly broadcast a propaganda video of its terrorists ripping up the water pipes Israel gave to Gaza—pipes that supplied clean water to their own people—and turning them into rockets to slaughter Jews. They wanted the world to see it loud and clear: the Muslims in Gaza are more than happy to die of thirst if it means they get to murder Jews and cash in their “martyr” ticket straight to paradise. The IDF called on the residents of northern Gaza to evacuate so they won’t be harmed. Most Gazan civilians want to do so, but Hamas is stopping them! Hamas wants them there as a human shield; it wants them to die for their propaganda! Hamas does not care about them. Even if Israel defeats Hamas's entire military network, even if it kills every Hamas fighter, Hamas continues as a political movement, Hamas continues to have support, not a majority, but a certain amount of support. The idea that b/c of what Hamas did on Oct. 7th, it is excluded from Palestinian governance, is an Israeli, European & American fantasy. You do not negotiate with the people who have already agreed to your terms. You couldn't do that in Ireland, you had to bring the IRA in, you couldn't do that in South Africa, you had to bring the ANC in, you couldn't do that in Algeria, you had bring the FLN in. These groups that had carried out horrific attacks against civilians, they were described as terrorists or bandits, but the only people you really need to negotiate with are the people with the guns.
