The Turks are not Arabs and they are one of the few blocs within Islamic civilisation who can separate Islam from Arabization. They identify as Muslims yet they kept Turkic culture and traditions unlike many ethnic nations in the Middle East, North Africa and East Africa who have been Arabized and assimilated because they could not separate religious identity from ethnic identity. The centerpiece of my Middle East policy in Year 1 will be to consummate “Abraham Accords 2.0” which will be good for the U.S. and good for Israel. If we can lead the way in helping Israel fully integrate into the economic and security infrastructure of the Middle East via Abraham Accords 2.0, it is better for everyone if Israel is truly able to stand on its own feet with support from partners across the Middle East that we diplomatically bring to the table. We will not leave Israel hanging out to dry - ever.

This week, I spoke at the conference of CPAC Hungary. In my opening remarks, I thanked Hungary and Prime Minister Orbán for their support of Israel. The main focus of my remarks was the war with Iran. I explained why Israel is not fighting only for itself, but also for Europe, America, the Middle East, and all of Western civilization. Iran is the main source of chaos, terrorism, and conflict in the Middle East. It refers to America as the “Great Satan” and chants “Death to America.” It attempted to assassinate President Trump. It has been responsible for the deaths of thousands of American soldiers in Lebanon and Iraq. It has been developing ICBMs capable of reaching all of Europe and, eventually, U.S. soil, while also pursuing nuclear weapons to annihilate Israel, dominate the Arab Sunni world, and threaten and extort Europe and America. It has also oppressed and massacred its own citizens. I also spoke about how Israel is a defender of Christianity and Christians in the Middle East. It is the only country in the region where the Christian population is growing, while Christians are declining or being driven out in most other parts of the region. The city of Bethlehem was about 80% Christian in the past under Israeli control, but that share has decreased significantly under Palestinian Authority control and persecution to about 10%. Israel is also the only country that has fought for Christians in the Middle East when during the Lebanese Civil War, it fought alongside Christian Lebanese forces against Islamists Palestinian and Shia militias in the 1980s and 1990s.
