iOS UI in an android app. 😬 No thank you. I'll stick to native.

That is Jetpack Compose. You can't get more native

This seems absolutely magical. If it works, it will allow indie iOS developers to enter the Android world. I've developed iOS apps myself, and the only reason they're not on Android is I'm not ready to learn Android Platform development at this point. This could solve it.

We agree - and it is magical! But it isn't actually magic. It's a tool, and it has tradeoffs like any other. We just happen to think our set of tradeoffs is way better than any alternative! The docs cover it all in detail... or just try it out!

What are the odds of taking this open source and truly competing against the likes of RN and Flutter?

Most of Skip is already open source. If you mean free for everyone... well, who knows what the future holds. For now we're still laser-focused on enhancing the core tech, and that requires some revenue to support ourselves

What happens when you use an iOS specific API?

@_hariti You can use any iOS API you want for the iOS version of your app, but you have to exclude it or have an alternate for Android. You can see this in the Maps part of the video, and here's documentation about it:
