🪐 WORLD CREATORS Generative AI opened the door for everyone to tell their stories without the need for a crew or a big budget. We started slowly with images and saw an enormous interest in tools like Midjourney, DALL-E, or Leonardo. Now, a bit more than a year later, we find ourselves in front of new technologies that are transforming our way of life, how we create, and how we consume content. ChatGPT is rapidly replacing Googling, and all the generative AI tools are replacing all the stock photos and videos, with tools like Runway enabling storytelling for everyone. And we won't take over Hollywood. We will surpass it in ways we can't even imagine right now. We'll be able to create worlds and stories beyond our wildest imagination. Generative AI is enabling creative people to go 1000x on what was possible before. At the core of everything we'll still need human creativity, and we have to understand that AI tools without it will be nothing. Until then, enjoy a short video I've put together to illustrate a small fraction of the worlds we will create soon. What worlds and stories are you excited to create?

The Niceaunties AI Video Grant At Fellowship, we believe in creating an environment for experimentation and the development of ideas. That is why, when niceaunties proposed a grant program for mentorship and the creation of AI videos, we immediately said yes. The program will help support six artists, to create a Solo Show for the Fellowship Daily program. The commitment is to produce 8 new videos based on a theme proposed by Niceaunties. This will be an open call for all the Daily Artists and the AI video community at large. Everyone is welcome to reply/submit a video for consideration. Each grantee will receive a total of 2ETH provided by Niceaunties and Fellowship, as well as mentorship from Niceaunties and alejandro cartagena. Platforms change. Player preferences shift. Technology and tools evolve. The only constant is that great games require creativity, craft, and passion. Consider some “rules” that have already been broken: - "Game experiences should be unified across the player base." This was overturned when Zynga and other social gaming pioneers began A/B testing different versions of their games. The result? More optimized, engaging experiences that ultimately benefited all players. - "Showing ads will hurt monetization." Playrix and others proved the opposite: rewarded video ads not only improved monetization but also increased retention, giving players a way to access premium content without spending money. We believe many more “rules” will be broken in the AI era—and we’re excited to back the founders who will break them. Here are just a few conventions we expect to see challenged: 1. “World-building should be uniform and consistent.” Traditionally, a consistent game world and lore have been seen as essential for strengthening IP and building enduring franchises. Today, I am excited to finally launch my new Start Up - Virtu - An AI powered, end to end product creation platform. For the past 18 months, I’ve been building Virtu to fix a problem I saw everywhere: product creation is slow, manual, and stuck in legacy tools. It’s clear AI can transform how products are designed, sampled, and launched. What gives me even more belief is the team we have… Bret Rossman and Alexis Kantor — built the private label strategy and operations for 45+ Target-owned brands, and know retail inside-out. And together we have built something that we believe will change our industry. To give a perspective, the global consumer good retail industry is a whopping 21 Trillion $$$! Every product you see around you starts with design, development, and manufacturing workflows that have barely changed in decades. And…AI will completely transform this space over the next few years. Proactive AI Agents Today’s AI products are reactive. You give the model a prompt, it responds with an answer. These are useful, but I’m excited about products that take this further and shift the paradigm from “ask → answer” to “observe → act." These agents will continuously monitor context in the background across all of your connected tools and data, predict what matters, and take action before being asked to do so – much like a human does. So instead of you prompting the model, the model will start prompting you. Examples here could include agents that remind you about tasks you forgot to complete, resolve customer issues before support tickets are filed, or debug and ship code fixes automatically. This shift represents a new paradigm where AI products behave more like humans and less like tools. For generative AI to become an interesting art tool, we need much more control over the output. The slot-machine-like nature of pure text-to-image leaves too much to chance. Using the "Real-time Latent Consistency Model" that I'm using in the example here, is the first time I truly got a glimpse of a future where we'll be able to use our artistic skills and sensibility, to get control over AI image gen. Systems like these will never be able to match the quality or originality of a skilled artist, it won't surprise us in the same way an artist can. Things are a mess in terms of the training data these models are based on, and the questions about copyright concerns and about a time when everything will look the same are very valid. At some point capabilities like these will be embedded in photoshop, and anyone will be able to generate a pretty picture. But to create interesting designs, to tell original stories and to surprise us, we need creatives and artists with something on their mind. We'll be able to create immersive worlds, by making brush-strokes and sculpt marks, without needing to worry about all the dials, plugins, wires of our 3d and 2d tools today. I love to sculpt, I love to draw, and I love to explore new mediums and new ways to create. The Gen AI tools we have today are far from perfect, and things need to be steered in a better direction. For that we need artists to help point the way. Gen AI isn't going away.. it's too powerful and has the potential to allow us to tell stories like never before. Like all other big technological shifts, tech like this will come at a cost, but it will also open up new opportunities and empower a new generation of storytellers. I might be naive, but I believe that human ingenuity and creativity will persevere in this new world ♥️ #art #ai

Google DeepMind just dropped 'Genie', an AI that can generate interactive video games. This is a huge deal. Genie is trained on 200,000 hours of unsupervised public internet gaming videos and can generate video games from a single prompt or image. But here's what's insane: Despite not being trained on action or text annotations, the foundation model can determine who the main character is and enable a user to control that character in the generated world. It does this through its Latent Action Model, Video Tokenizer, and Dynamics Model (will go more in-depth on this in tomorrow's newsletter for those interested). And for those asking, yes, it's research-only and not publicly available (here come the Google memes), and it does come with some limitations, like only currently creating games at 1FPS. But this is the worst AI will ever be. Anyone will be able to create their own entirely imagined virtual worlds soon, and that's a wild sentence to say out loud.
