China says the export-control list targets only a small number of companies, and Japanese companies operating legally will not be affected. A gentle reminder: stealing and smuggling China’s controlled rare-earth products is not “normal trade.” Sanae Takaichi said: “A Taiwan emergency is a Japan emergency.” She openly threatened China. She said that if China moves on its own territory, Japan may intervene militarily. A defeated WWII aggressor openly threatening to interfere in Chinese territory — while raising defense spending, expanding strike capabilities, loosening arms-export rules, and trying to build a “war-ready” military. And now Japan cries because China placed 20 Japanese entities involved in dual-use items on an export-control list? Please. The U.S. sanctions Chinese companies by the thousands — companies nowhere near American soil, even when China has not threatened to invade America. But when Japan talks about military intervention in China’s Taiwan question, China is supposed to keep supplying its defense-linked entities as usual? So no. China is not punishing trade. China is cutting off the materials that fuel Japan’s reckless drift back to militarism. Asia remembers what happens when Japan starts sharpening knives and calling it “security.” China has every right — and every responsibility — to stop that wolf before it starts hunting again. One export-control list. One reality check.
