ComfyUI can now split a flat image into separate editable layers and hand you a PSD that opens straight in Photoshop. Thanks to Node 2.0. The new layer nodes come from Terry (jtydhr88) on our frontend team. A compositor editor is right in the graph, so you can arrange... show more

Try the workflow template here: Terry is at go say hi.

@jtydhr88 You need to using Node 2.0, Seedream 5, and Comfy Cloud to do this! 😪

@jtydhr88 You don’t need comfy cloud.

@jtydhr88 Can it do Vtuber models?

@jtydhr88 Do you mean you want to go from 1 flat image to L2D components?

@jtydhr88 Yes. Separating layers that we can then morph in Live2D.

@jtydhr88 Cloud 👎. Need weights

@ComfyUI @jtydhr88 This is one of the reasons why I like ComfyUI

@jtydhr88 Flat image to editable PSD is a huge win

@jtydhr88 Graphic designers who spent 3 hours using the magnetic lasso tool to manually separate layers are in absolute shambles right now.

@jtydhr88 Cool, I built a layering system with blend modes for video layering last year. I will have to play with this.

Since GIMP can open many Photoshop PSD files, including layers, masks, transparency, and much of the basic layer structure you may experience minor compatibility with some Photoshop features according to AI such as Smart Objects, adjustment layers, layer effects, some text formatting, and newer Photoshop-specific features may be flattened, altered, or unsupported. But if you only need to edit a fairly standard layered PSD, GIMP usually works well. So you probably don't need to spend a penny on Photoshop.

@jtydhr88 incredible! comfy just gets better and better every day

@jtydhr88

@jtydhr88 Neat!

@jtydhr88 Feature so advanced it probably just made the layers start asking for royalties

@jtydhr88 @JADM823

@jtydhr88 Straight into Photoshop, huge time saver

@jtydhr88 one missing feature matters: hidden pixel reconstruction, otherwise the psd stays a cutout stack

@jtydhr88 $ADBE

@jtydhr88 it could always do it. It just wasn't officially supported. and you made it worse because apparently it's unique to nodes 2.0?

@jtydhr88 You should be able to generatively edit specific layers. If you change a certain layer, there's usually a problem with harmonizing it back into the scene with shadows and other layers contextually adjusted without identity or quality loss of the target layer.

@jtydhr88 cc @jtydhr88

@jtydhr88 love this!

@jtydhr88 why move to photoshop if you can edit the layers in comfyUI?

@jtydhr88 The PSD export workflow cuts out the manual layer masking entirely; I've been exporting ComfyUI outputs to Photoshop for months and this saves the whole back-and-forth loop.
