Little tropical wave a few hundred miles off the east coast of Florida. Largely spinning at 500mb/20,000 feet up. Disorganized and 0% chance of any tropical development. If anything else, a subtle reminder hurricane season is just two weeks away from today for 2026.

Here’s a look at the steering for next week for the (potential) dueling tropical cyclones. The very unusual Sept pattern continues with another deep trough digging into the east, likely deflecting the systems offshore. The caveat is the upper low “cuts off” from the jet stream and some solutions retrograde (move it backwards) the upper low. If that occurs, the coastal cyclones makes a closer pass, perhaps too close for comfort. Too early for details as this is an extremely complex forecast, with all 3 systems doing a delicate dance with each other. Stay tuned!! #hurricane

Wait for it! Solid shift eastward - out to sea - on many of our models and even the new NHC forecast. These are the Google AI ensembles. What’s happening here - partly - is #Humberto is now forecast to be a Cat 5 monster #Hurricane and is exerting an even bigger influence on #Imelda, helping to pull it away like a magnet. Also the upper low in SE is now forecast to be a bit weaker exerting less influence. This is not set in stone, and it may shift back, but it’s a good sign. It’s worth noting the Google AI has been pretty consistent for days with most members showing a stall, then turn east out to sea. Fingers crossed!

The tropical disturbance is currently located over Mexico and will gradually move toward South Texas. This is arguably one of the most complex steering scenarios in recent memory!! Two hurricanes(?), a stalled cut-off upper low, and a deep Greenland cold pool diving south. How all these factors interact with each other is driving the models (and meteorologists lol) up the wall!! Will soon to be #Imelda be pulled into the Carolina coast by the cut-off low as many solutions show? But expect very hazy skies and extra nice sunrises and sets next week across #Florida, the Gulf Coast, and the Caribbean as rain chances go down along with the dry air.
