On Tuesday (Feb. 3), CBS Mornings ran a new sit-down with Reshona Landfair, who was 14 years old when a sex tape featuring her and the disgraced R&B singer leaked online. Listed as Jane Doe in Kelly's 2021 and 2022 federal trials, the Landfair, 41, is now breaking her silence ahead of the release of her memoir, Who's Watching Shorty? Landfair, a former child rapper and the niece of R&B singer Sparkle, says finally revealing herself as one of R. Kelly's victims has been liberating. "I really wanted to live in my true skin—in my true self," she says. Landfair reveals that Kelly began grooming her shortly after becoming her godfather. When she was 17 years old, in 2001, a tape of them having sex leaked online. According to Landfair, Kelly notified her parents that he was in love with her when the tape became public. In 2008, R. Kelly was acquitted of child pornography charges in connection with the tape, largely due to Landfair's reluctance to admit that the girl in the tape was her. "That's one of my biggest regrets," Landfair says. "Not telling the truth." Landfair did testify at Kelly's 2022 sex crimes trial, which helped convict the singer. Kelly is currently serving a 30-year sentence in prison after being found guilty in two federal sex crimes cases.
