Not a good example to set for a park employee to hang any flag on El Capitan. It certainly takes away from the “park experience” for EVERY person visiting that day. Just imagine if every climber going up El Capitan decided to hang a giant flag or giant personal memento to celebrate. El Capitan is not a billboard

Should she have been fired?

We don’t carry hate. We carry respect for nature. Respect for spaces that we can be aware of the beauty of this earth without being bombarded by political statements. It is arrogant and narcissistic to impose your symbolism on others. For some reason, the left has given you the idea that you are an elevated, protected class…not true. I am sure there would be a reaction if a MAGA flag had been hoisted. Stop trying to impose your beliefs on others.

It does not matter if she hung the flag on her own time or not. The issue is she defaced property managed by the NPS, Nobody is interested in being subjected to her 'identity'. Perhaps the job now will go to a person who is more devoted to maintaining the wonder of that beautiful park than they are to selfishly glorifying themselves.

What would happen to Yosemite if everyone went around hanging flags at will through out the park? A Park Ranger should know the problem with this and be working to keep people from marring up the park with personal statements. Bye.

The problem here is that she chose to hang the flag on a natural wonder inside of a national park, thus illegally co-opting everyone else’s ability to enjoy said natural wonder on those PUBLIC lands. I’m sure if a conservative Park Ranger had hung a gigantic MAGA sign from El Capitan, she would have been among the first persons in line to cry foul. 🙄
