#ChiefDakamelaAwardsFestival2026 A delegation of prominent izinduna zomdabu ZaKwaZulu (traditional Zulu Chiefs from KwaZulu-Natal province in South Africa) being introduced to the people at the annual Chief Dakamela Achievers' Awards at his Nkayi village homestead, Matabeleland North province, yesterday. The chiefs' delegation included princes, members of the Zulu royal family and other royals from the region. The Zulu delegation included Prince Thulani Zulu, Prince Kwazikwenkosi Zulu, Prince Kinobho Zulu, and Prince Phumlani Pro okaHuzulu. The chiefs who came from South Africa were Mncwango, Mdlalose, Shandu and others. Zulu cultural historian, storyteller and traditional music singer Mbuso Khoza was also there. There was also Prince Ayanda Manala and Princess Andile Mabena representing the Ndebele Kingdom from Mpumalanga in South Africa. Chief Zwelenqaba Mgudlwa and Dr Ondile Dlanga represented the abaThembu Kingdom from the Xhosa royalty. Local chiefs where also present. There were also local and South Africa celebrities, prominent personalities, musicians and actors including Albert Nyathi, Zenzo Nyathi, Madlela Skhobokhobo whose real name is Mothusi Bashimane Ndlovu, Ezra Tshisa Sibanda, Mbo Mahocs (Mbonisi Mahonondo) and Dawn Thandeka King, among others. Government was represented by Emily Jesaya, Deputy Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture. Chief Dakamela - born Mbusi Bekithemba Dakamela, a descendant of Dakamela Ncube of the Babambeni Regiment fame under Ndebele King Lobengula - has now become the new centre of cultural revival, gravity, pilgrimage and pride in Matabeleland. The Chief Dakamela Achievers Awards is now only outdone by Ndebele ceremonial King Bulelani Khumalo and the Mzilikazi Day event in the region in terms of prominence, attendance and resonance. The Imiklomelo kaDakamela Awards is an annual ceremony held in Nkayi district, to celebrate individuals, organisations and institutions that have made significant positive contributions and difference to society to uplift people's lives, particularly in those areas under the chief's traditional jurisdiction and influence. This year's awards peaked yesterday under the theme "uBuntu yiSintu Sethu" (Our humanity is our culture). The event has been a huge success. What began as a simple awards ceremony in rural Matabeleland backwater setting has now grown and expanded into a multi-day cultural festival featuring bush dinners, art exhibitions, history lectures, storytelling and traditional performances. In future, the plan is to have an organised series of performances or exhibitions around it such as a public lecturers on history and culture, film festivals, music festivals or literary festivals, underlining the importance of education and writing books. The event - a major cultural revival festival - is increasingly becoming a tourism magnet and driver of development contributions for Bulawayo and the Nkayi region, bringing together hundreds of visitors and various corporate partners like Kingdom Blue Funeral Service, mainly benefitting local main tourist attractions like Matopo Hills, Hwange National Park and Victoria Falls. Rooted in deep Nguni culture, traditions and heritage, the event is now attracting attention across different countries in the region which share the same ethnic cultural ties among some parts of its population, including South Africa, Eswatini, Mozambique, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. 🔴Caption: Ndebele Nkayi Chief Dakamela, who was born Mbusi Bekithemba Dakamela (left), and prominent Zulu Chiefs (right).

Press statement from the Office of King Bulelani Lubengula Mzilikazi 👇🏿👇🏿 Public Statement in Response to Remarks by Government Officials Regarding His Majesty’s Visit to Bulawayo. Date: 4 May 2025 The Office of His Majesty King Bulelani Lobengula kaMzilikazi, based in the Republic of South Africa, has taken note of recent public statements made by the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Hon. Daniel Garwe, and ZANU PF Spokesperson Mr. Christopher Mutsvangwa, concerning His Majesty’s visit to the City of Bulawayo and his courtesy engagement with the Mayor, Councillor David Coltart. While we understand and respect the importance of dialogue and the rule of law within a sovereign nation, we find it imperative to address the tone and implications of the said statements with the necessary dignity and clarity. 1. Legitimacy and Representation His Majesty King Bulelani Lobengula kaMzilikazi holds a deeply rooted ancestral and cultural position within the hearts of the uMthwakazi people, as a direct descendant of King Lobengula, and ultimately of King Mzilikazi, the founder of the Ndebele nation. His role is not political but restorative, cultural, and symbolic—aimed at uniting Mthwakazi descendants across Southern Africa and the diaspora through heritage, identity, and community development. 2. The Nature of the Visit His Majesty’s visit to Bulawayo was in no way a political event or an act of defiance. It was a private and dignified cultural pilgrimage to the historical heartland of the Ndebele people—a journey marked by mutual respect, peaceful engagement, and cultural significance. His meeting with Mayor David Coltart was conducted in a spirit of courtesy and national unity, reflective of our African tradition of mutual recognition among community leaders. 3. Dignity in Public Discourse We respectfully urge public officials to exercise caution, decorum, and cultural sensitivity when speaking on matters of heritage and traditional leadership. Dismissive language or threats of arrest directed at a traditional and cultural figure—whose mission is reconciliation, unity, and empowerment—does not reflect the spirit of Ubuntu or the values enshrined in Pan-Africanism. 4. Commitment to Peace and Cultural Preservation The Kingdom reiterates its commitment to peaceful engagement, cultural restoration, and respectful cooperation with both governmental and civil institutions. We believe that co-existence between traditional structures and state governance is not only possible but necessary for a more inclusive and reconciled future. 5. The Call for Dialogue We remain open to constructive dialogue with all relevant stakeholders in Zimbabwe and the region to find common ground in the recognition and preservation of traditional institutions that predate colonial boundaries. These institutions, when embraced and integrated, can contribute meaningfully to community development, national unity, and cultural tourism. Conclusion We would like to thank all the citizens of the country who have shown their undivided support to the King, The Kingship issue, The Mayor of the City of Bulawayo and the Culture of our Mthwakazi Nation . It has clearly demonstrated that “Inkosi YiNkosi Ngabantu” . We call upon all concerned to embrace a spirit of mutual respect, understanding, and dialogue in addressing matters concerning the cultural identity of the Mthwakazi people. His Majesty’s presence is not an imposition, but a reminder of a shared aspiration and history that yearns for healing, dignity, and recognition. 🔥 SERBIAN 🇷🇸 KOLO — ONE OF THE OLDEST SLAVIC DANCES 🔥 The video shows a traditional Serbian kolo, one of the most iconic folk dances in the entire Slavic world. What you see here isn’t just choreography — it’s a living piece of Slavic history, passed down through generations for over a thousand years. Kolo is performed in a circle or semi-circle, with dancers holding hands or belts, moving together in perfect rhythm. This symbolizes unity, equality, and community — nobody leads, nobody follows. Every dancer is part of the same circle. For centuries, this is how Serbs celebrated weddings, harvests, military victories, and major village gatherings. The costumes you see in the video are authentic Šumadija and Vojvodina outfits — wool skirts, embroidered shirts, opanci shoes, and white headscarves. These elements come from medieval Serbian dress, shaped by Ottoman, Byzantine, and local Slavic traditions. Across the Balkans, similar circle dances appear among Croats, Bosniaks, Macedonians, Bulgarians, Montenegrins, and even some Greeks and Romanians — proving how deeply pan-Slavic these traditions really are. UNESCO even protects Serbian kolo as part of the world’s cultural heritage. What you are watching is not just a dance — it is the heartbeat of a nation and one of the oldest surviving expressions of Slavic spirit. 🇷🇸✨ Slavic culture lives through movement, music, and memory. 🔥🇵🇱🇷🇸 “THIS SERB EXPOSED A HARD TRUTH ABOUT POLAND” – Is He Actually Right? A young Serb living in Poland just said something that hit many people straight in the chest – and honestly, it’s hard to argue with him. When asked about the differences between Poland and Serbia, he didn’t talk about politics or money. He went straight to culture. 👉 Music. Identity. Folklore. He said something powerful: “When you listen to Polish music, you don’t really hear ‘Polishness’. You can’t tell who Poles are as a nation from their music. But when you hear Serbian music – you immediately know. Loud. Wild. Emotional. Balkan.” And then he went even deeper. Poland has beautiful folklore – Highlander culture, Kashubian traditions, regional dances, songs, costumes… But who actually knows them today? He asked a simple question: “Do you know even ONE traditional Polish dance or folk song?” Silence. And that silence says everything. He pointed out that two generations ago, people still cared. They knew the dances, the songs, the traditions. Today? TikTok, pop culture, Western trends… folklore became “cringe” instead of cool. Meanwhile in Serbia? “My friends know at least five traditional dances each.” That’s not nostalgia. That’s living culture. And he’s right. Serbs carry their identity loudly – through music, dance, weddings, festivals. Poles? We have the culture… but we hide it. ⸻ But here’s the twist 👇 When asked what he would bring from Poland to Serbia, his answer was honest: 🧾 Order. Organization. Digital systems. “In Poland I can do everything on my phone. Taxes, documents, offices. In Serbia everything is messy and slow.” So even he admits: Poland wins in structure and efficiency. Serbia wins in soul and identity. ⸻ So the real question is… ❓ Is he right? ❓ Have Poles forgotten their own culture? ❓ Why do Serbs protect their traditions more than we do? ❓ When did we decide folklore is “embarrassing” instead of powerful? Because if we don’t protect it – someone else will erase it for us. ⸻ 👇 COMMENT: Do you agree with him? Name ONE Polish folk dance or song you know. Prove him wrong – or admit he’s right. 👍 Like • 🔁 Share • 📌 Follow 👉 Follow us also on Facebook: Slavic Networks Nirali VVeles SlavicFreeSpirit #Poland #Serbia #SlavicCulture #Folklore #Identity #Tradition #Slavs #StreetInterview #CultureWar
