New rules protecting single-sex spaces come into force across Britain today. But it's not enough. At #CPACGB, Maeve Halligan revealed how Cambridge University tried to shut down her women-only society for having just one membership requirement: being female.

The amount The Cambridge University Society of Women has gone through simply to exist, organise, and speak openly is unreal. At the beginning of this year, I could barely exist in Cambridge normally. Such as with the NHS to gain access to single sex wards or for screening, or to enter other female only spaces” Chris Bryant your use of the word ‘unlikely’ implies you know there is a possibility it could be used to access female only spaces. Safeguarding works by thinking of the worst outcomes and preventing them. But we all know you just don’t believe single sex spaces are worth being safeguarded.

Yesterday Pauline put forward the "Acknowledging Biological Reality Bill" in the Senate. This Bill would have protected women and safeguarded female only spaces. Sadly, the Bill was voted down by Labor and Green Senators. It's extremely rare that Bills are voted down at such an early stage in the Senate. It shows that Labor and Green Senators are not even prepared to debate their extreme views on gender identity. One Nation stand for biological reality and common sense on issues relating to gender identity and in protecting female only spaces.

Anna Cody, Australia’s sex discrimination commissioner, intervened in a federal court case against women only spaces, the accurate definition of woman & biological sex, instead in favor of men who claim to be women. All while school aged girls are not drinking water at school to avoid having to use bathrooms with boys in them, while women are being charged with vilification for accurately calling men men, while women are being injured on sports fields by men who claim to be women, while lesbians are denied their own events, while women have their lives turned upside down & have to raise almost $2million to fight for women only spaces in court, she has sided specifically with men who claim to be women. She has attended “trans rights” speaking events but never “women’s rights” events. I know she has heard the voices of women who rely on women only spaces because we submitted affidavits from these women in the Tickle v Giggle court case. Women who have been abused, women who are in recovery, women whose faith relies on sex segregation, women with trauma, women whose day to day needs require woman only spaces, lesbian women denied lesbian only events. She has ignored it all in favor of men who claim to be women. In the Giggle v Tickle appeal, it’s Giggle saying that the law can serve everyone. Have your trans only spaces, have gay only spaces, have male only spaces, have women + men who claim to be women spaces if you want, just also have female only spaces. The sex discrimination commissioner is actively against this, in favor of whatever men who claim to be women want. When you allow school girls to go without adequate single sex bathrooms, lesbians to be denied to right of single sex association, every woman who needs woman only spaces to go without, you are discriminating against women, and you’re doing it on the basis of sex. Yes, the sex discrimination commissioner is discriminating against women on the basis of sex. So for her to stand on stage and say that she not only listens to women but centers women who have experienced discrimination in her work is a demonstrable lie. I know this because I have the receipts. The sex discrimination commissioner should be forced to resign because she is not accurately doing her job. She is welcome to be a trans rights activist elsewhere but it certainly shouldn’t be in the office of the SEX discrimination commission.

Every single man who tried to use Giggle, the female only online space I created, knew it was female only. It said so on every screen they saw while trying to invade it. Once they were refused, the rejected men left 1 star reviews or piled on abuse or, eventually, took me to court for being rejected access to something they were fully aware was not for them in the first place. This is why gender identity laws are abuse against women. They put women in the position of having to defend ourselves against or take responsibility for an irrational choice that a man has made.

When the previous government cleared the Kolathur fish market, they at least provided alternative shops for the vendors. That showed some concern for the people whose livelihoods were affected. Nobody is saying rules shouldn't be followed. But can every single person survive without ever violating a rule? These roadside shops were not luxury businesses—they were the only source of income for poor and lower-middle-class families. I asked for the LONG BILL to be read at length today. Not to stall. Not for politics. But because what’s happening in this building is being buried, and the people of Colorado deserve time to SEE it. We’ve heard nonstop speeches about “protecting victims.” But as a victim of sexual harassment inside this Capitol, I was denied justice. No transparency. No accountability. Instead? It was buried. And the moment I stood up to say it from the well… Majority Leadership moved to shut it down. The Majority Leader rushed to lay the bill over—using a rule most people have never even heard of. Silenced. Again. Let that sink in. They will preach about victims— but when it’s one of their own? They shut it down. They bury it. They move on. So yes, I’m slowing this process down. Because this isn’t just about a $46 BILLION budget being rushed through in hours. It’s about a culture that protects itself instead of protecting victims. Colorado deserves honesty. Colorado deserves transparency. And victims deserve to be heard, not silenced.

"Twitch do wonderful things but we can always do better... men need to realise the damage they're doing and how they're supressing women on #twitch" Obviously this goes for all online spaces, I was just having a conversation about Twitch but the internet IS a PUBLIC SPACE where you're connected to people from all walks of life. Your words have consequences! Everyone should be safe from abuse etc. It's REALLY not hard to be respectful. TRY imagine if you was in their shoes...

It wasn't just "good for its time" - it was legitimately excellent in terms of design and pushed technical boundaries. However, what stands out the most is who created it. Carol Shaw, a solo female creator delivering a million-selling classic in a male-dominated space. To give you a better context: In 1982 the gaming industry extremely male dominated, only 3% of the developers were women - and only a fraction of that in leading roles. Shaw started at Atari in 1978 (one of the first ever women in such a role) and moved to Activision. River Raid is her most famous work, and she's widely recognized as one of the earliest professional female video game designers/programmers. River Raid became hugely successful - lucrative enough for her to retire early - and helped normalize women in game development. It was a quiet but significant milestone in an era when the field was just forming and considered to be "just for guys". Today's gaming industry is still male dominated but the ratio is not 3% women to 97% men anymore, but around 25% women to 75% men. Carol Shaw didn't just push technical but also social boundaries, normalizing women in the gaming industry.$

No one seemed to want to answer the important question regarding the M&S in Colchester. Are there any spaces just for men or just for women or are they all "gender neutral"/Mixed Sex? So I rang them. The woman in the recent video said they were "breaking the law". They aren't. Marks and Spencer told me that they have 6 changing spaces LOCATED within the Men's dept. 6 spaces LOCATED within the women's department. All 12 are mixed sex and available to everyone. They are not marked as single sex spaces because they aren't single sex. Audio recording below. I did not give Yvonne the customer services representative a hard time because I was not making a complaint, I was getting clarification and info about the store's changing provision and she is not responsible for producing Marks and Spencer policy. The company policy dictating this mixed sex changing arrangement throughout the store is legal. This is the entire problem. Women have been misled to think single-sex changing spaces have now been returned to them. That would be a lie. Marks and Spencer and others can continue to provide spaces unacceptable and unsafe to women. They can do it within the remit of the Equality Act. For women to be safe there needs to be a change to the law which insists on women having single sex space to change or go to the toilet. That has not been achieved by any court ruling or guidance around the Equality Act and GC groups who mostly applauded the recently released 'Code of Practice' know this because they are stuffed full of lawyers. The man in the video may have terrible customer service skills, he may even be prejudiced against women with GC views, but the policy is legal. Grassroots activism on behalf of women might eventually force a change from providers. It is probably all that could, because the Equality Act remains rigidly against us. Yet the grassroots have previously been frowned upon and sneered at for our shouty ways while the GC Suits "handle everything professionally".
