Thank you @stephenasmith for some much needed common sense and rationality about this tragedy.

He simultaneously says "i dont give a damn about your race or ethnicity" but then says he "doesnt want to see any other young black man going to jail." Which is it Stephen A? It doesnt even occur to me to think "i dont want to see another white person go to jail"

“ I don’t want to see another black young man going to jail.” With all due respect, the overwhelming majority of “young black men” sitting in prison are sitting there for crimes that they are in fact guilty of committing & typically committing against other black people. The people who hate black Americans are the people who keep telling them America is racist & they’re oppressed. Far too many black Americans immerse themselves in that narrative. It only serves to keep them in ‘liberal bondage’ while empowering & enriching the noble people so devoted to their emancipation. If your 3 or 4 generations into public assistance you may want to consider the affluent & privileged people you keep voting for might not have your best interests in mind.

“I would give anything to say something in his defense”? Why? I’ve never felt that what about a random white person that committed murder. It’s sad that a teenager destroyed his own life and ended another teenagers life. He made a bad decision that was undoubtedly driven by the clear racial grievance under which he was raised. Parents that wouldn’t even stick around for his sentencing. He was dealt a bad hand but why would anyone other than his friends or family feel compelled to find a defense for him?

Agreed. Underneath it all, I think Karmelo Anthony is probably a good kid who suffered from the high testosterone levels of a young male. I’m not sure that society benefits from having him in jail for 35 years. There must be a better solution.

You could argue that since he is a minor the sentence of 35 years is extreme. But that he is guilty there is no doubt.
