I'd never thought about using them. My math teachers, back in the day, were pretty dry and didn't teach us fun stuff like this. Someone like you would have made math more enjoyable.

Yup! This strategy is known as an "area model" or the "box method"... It serves to strengthen conceptual understanding of what is happening when each digit is multiplied by another...

I always use this mentally, but knowing now that this method has a name is kinda fun !! Thanks Sir.

@Dr_Heimburger @MistiGreenPena @BFZamora68 @JenRuby4 @inst_coach7 I get it! ❤️

Using a rectangle like this is also s great way to remember how the distributive property works

I use this a lot. In fact I my tutees probably think I am obsessed with it. Thank you @Mathematicsctlm and @Mr_AlmondED among others.

this is an awesome. i bet your students love your lessons! cheers.

Folks, these are the people that truly change the world for the better. Priceless. So remember, when you praise the wealthy (Bezos, Musk,etc) they exploited, stole, starved, and continually dilute prosperity. Thank you Howie.

This is really neat. Thanks.

I always use rectangles when factoring trinomials. Kids get it too
