Can you identify an oculogyric crisis? @ChristosGanos and colleagues teach us about the intriguing possibility that the rolling eyes we frequently see after administration of a drug, may be localized to a brain lesion network associated with a brain dopaminergic transcriptomic signature. Read about it in a new paper Brain. Key Points: - Oculogyric crises what are they? Acute episodes sustained, typically upward, conjugate deviation of the eyes. - Common cause? Acute D2-dopamine receptor blockade by a drug. - The authors used data from 14 previously reported cases of lesion-induced oculogyric crises and employed' lesion network mapping' to search for shared connections. - What was the common network? Basal ganglia, thalamic, brainstem nuclei and cerebellum. - A look at the gene expression profiles showed spatial overlap specifically with the gene coding for dopamine receptor type 2 (DRD2). - The very cool part: spatial overlap with DRD2 and DRD3 gene expression seemed to be 'specific to brain lesions associated with oculogyric crises when contrasted to lesions that led to other movement disorders.' My take: I love the use of multiple modalities to chase down a common neural network for oculogyric crises. We should keep in mind that these were cases associated with brain lesions, and as we all contribute by reporting more cases and sharing their MRI scans we will likely further refine our understanding of the network. For clinicians when you see this, look down that medication list for the 'dopamine blocker' as your first step in diagnosis. 🔥Today we're excited to announce a major milestone for the machine-learned interatomic potential (MLIP) ecosystem: TorchSim is moving to community ownership and governance through a partnership with Radical AI and the open-source community! MLIPs have become critical computational tools for materials discovery. These models predict atomic forces orders of magnitude faster than traditional methods with high accuracy - bridging the gap between DFT and MD. But, the MLIP ecosystem has been fragmented. She describes how, right in the middle of the staff meeting, police suddenly burst into her maternity room with guns drawn while she’s sitting in the hospital chair with her newborn. Another defamation case in the works? Ok. Will not apologize. Will not delete. But will apologise and delete if: 1) Institution of national repute will put out a public statement that they will ensure all patients - from all wakes of life will be treated with evidence-based scientific medicine without prejudice and not Ayurvedic quackery. If the patient wants Ayurvedic quackery then the doctors must counsel them on cons of the treatment because there are no pros. The final decision can be with the patient after a wholesome discussion. 2) Call back this patient with bipolar (see last video l) who received toxic ayurvedic products as part of bipolar mania treatment and provide actual guidelines based medical care. 3) Ayurveda practitioners who prescribed the set of herbals to the bipolar patient must show evidence for their treatment from classical as well as modern medical literature, mechanism of action, dosing studies, safety profile of each herbal and multi herbal combinations in this group of patients. The amount of abuses and harassment that alumni of NIMHANS showered on my Instagram was quite a lot. They were all worried about the "name" of their institute getting tarnished...NOT A SINGLE DOCTOR from NIMHANS reached out or responded asking how the patient was or about the atrocity committed against the patient. Not one. Patients do not go to NIMHANS for Ayurvedic treatment. If real doctors don't stand up for their patients, then who will? I know doctors who work in NIMHANS and such government run institutes are held hostage and scared. But I am not, because I am only concerned about patients and their family. And their right to healthcare. I vehemently stand against integrative quackery. And every doctor should too, if they have an iota of conscience and humanism left for their patients, past-present-and future.

To deanna | 문잡아 the very first person who trusted this project and the one who helped me securing the slot for the aerial banner. While we know that it is me who initiated this, it wouldn't be that really possible without her help in securing it the earliest time we can. To every Huihuis/Carats who extended their support through their donations. I really do appreciate you extending your generosity and your trust towards this fan project. You made this project possible and even more memorable. Beyond funding, you gave this initiative meaning and so much love. To everyone who shared the project's initiative, thank you so much for your efforts. "We've changed the world in many ways in the past, but Greater Manchester's potential lies in its future. And when Westminster walked away from us, when we were struggling as a deindustrialized city region, it was the people in this place that began the journey to rebuild." "And people often ask me, what is it that I feel makes Greater Manchester so special? And it's our people and our communities. And during this campaign, I've got to see that firsthand in every single corner of this city region." "In every pride, village, town, and both our cities, I find fantastic people doing incredible things against the odds every single day. Rejecting the politics of hate, but standing with their neighbors, looking out for each other." "The spirit of a place that their neighbors will give their final pound in their pocket to help their struggling friend do the right thing. But for too many people across our region, life is simply too hard. The generational belief that we had that if you work hard and you did the right thing, then your life would be better, and the life of your kids would be better, is something that many people just don't feel at the minute." "And that is the challenge that we in politics have to face up to. And it's why I set myself a simple test, and I make that commitment to you today, that every single decision I take as your mayor of Greater Manchester will pass the test of making your life better." "It will put more money in your pocket, and that was one of the reasons that my first pledge was around free buses for eleven to eighteen year olds to put five hundred quid in the pockets of families and give a message to our young people that they could be anything they wanted to be and go anywhere they wanted to go." "That everyone in our city region deserves a good quality home that they can afford in a safe neighborhood, and that everyone has to feel the benefits and successes of growth. You have to feel it in your pocket with good jobs in every corner of our city region, and you've got to see it on your high streets and when you walk out your front door, restoring pride into our, our high streets and town centers." "But it can't just be about building the basic fundamentals of a good life. It's creating a good life. It's letting people make those decisions where they plan with optimism and hope for the future. Things like spending time with friends and family with enough money in your pocket to do it, to plan for your holidays, to plan for your trips, to be able to think of the life you're creating for your kids." "And that's what we can do here in Greater Manchester. And the final thing I'll say is that this is about the city region that we want to be. This is the Greater Manchester that we can be. And that has to come with the belief that we can build things that make life better." "And I'll say this really plainly. To those that voted for me, thank you. To the Labour support that's in doubt, thank you. To those of you that lent me your vote, thank you. And for those of you that didn't vote for me, I will still be your mayor because I will defend this city region with every bone in my body, and I will fight for a better life for all of us." "So the hard work begins. I've done this with a promise and a plan, and my promise and commitment to you is that I will make this city region better, but I will work for everyone. I will be a greater mayor for everyone. And we have to heal." "We have to move away from divisive politics that try and pit neighbor against neighbor, and we'll work together. 💙🙏🏽Twenty-six years ago, when we received RJ’s autism diagnosis, the world looked very different. Very few public figures athletes, entertainers, or anyone with a platform, were talking openly about #autism. There was so much fear, stigma, and silence. Even Rodney will tell you he wasn’t sure we should share RJ’s diagnosis. Like so many parents, he worried that a label would define our son. But I believed that if we were willing to tell our story, another family might feel less alone. They might seek support sooner. They might let go of the shame that so many cultures and communities still attach to a diagnosis. That decision changed our lives. So seeing Teoscar and Jennifer share little Teo’s autism journey so openly touched me deeply. It takes tremendous courage to invite the world into such a personal chapter of your family’s life. But moments like this matter. Representation matters. Honesty matters. And every family that chooses to speak up helps another family breathe a little easier. I’ve always said, “I wouldn’t change RJ for the world, but I would change the world for RJ.” By sharing Teo’s story, the Hernández family is helping change the world and not just for their son, but for countless children and families who now feel seen, understood, and a little less afraid.
