One week post-op. Stitches out in three days. Then a tattoo over the scar so it looks “nice and smooth.” That’s the update from someone who had their belly button removed on purpose.

Ryan Kalkbrenner doing what he’s best at, being big… 7’1 w/o shoes, 7’7 wingspan. Great cleanup work on the glass, with putbacks & tap outs. Nice recovery pin-block. Screening, slipping, diving, & dunking. Working the handoff game. Just out there doing competent big-man stuff.

This is a nice bit of insight from England's World Cup camp. At the top level of the game, this is how a player's physical performance data is visualised post-match and used to inform their recovery on MD+1. From what they eat to refuel, to the recovery protocols they choose from in terms of a selection menu: yoga and meditation, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, strength training in the gym, etc. And every player produces different datasets so recovery can be individualised. Not every team has the budget for this sort of thing, but the fundamentals are the same - how does your performance data inform what you do next, to prepare for the next training session or game.
