More arm talent from yesterday... Pierce Herrenbruck, FR, RHP Rend Lake Baseball Super-projectable 6-2/170. Loose arm. Good direction. Repeated delivery. Very good feel for four pitches in the strike zone. FB topped at 90, sat 88-89 for 3 innings. Spun 75-76 curve with good shape and spin, and added a few mph for slurve look to induce chase. Upper-70s CH could be his best pitch of all. Sold it well with good arm speed. One to definitely keep our 👀 on @PBR_JUCO

6’4 D2 Sophomore Aidan McDowell has been one of the most impressive players in D2 this season. Through his first 10 games McDowell is averaging 29/5/2 on 51/42/94 splits and is leading D2 in total scoring as just a sophomore. McDowell is one of the most efficient scorers in all of D2 with his ability to finish at the rim at a high level and shoot from three at a high level. McDowell is an elite shooter who’s shooting 42% on 9 attempts a game and he’s doing that either off the dribble, from a movement three or off the catch. He’s also a skilled driver and a cutter at the rim and has one of the highest rim pressure rates, while also drawing free throws at an elite level. There’s not many players McDowell’s age and height who have had the impact he’s had and he’s been one of the most underrated players in all of college basketball.

Here's a good look at Kyler Zagar from Friday afternoon's scrimmage. Zagar is a 6-1 Sophomore out of Perry who features a "centerpiece" changeup. His changeup looks just like his fastball coming out of his hand, and tumbles like crazy. If he can spot and move the fastball to parts of the zone that can't be ambushed, then tunnel that changeup off of that, he can get a LOT of outs. Fastball is a 2-seam, so everything he throws moves, and it's coming from fairly long levers, so there's a TON of deception to his delivery. You'll see 90-93 go up on the board and SWEAR that it's quite a bit hotter than that. He also features a curveball that he can "steal" strikes with, then also bury hitters on occasion. Zagar spent a year at Cowley and pitched for "Lefty", and he played for Bret Bouher at Perry, who played at OSU, so he comes from GREAT stock! #gopokes #okstate

6’9 Sophomore Wing Antonio Chol has been one of the best scorers in Juco this season. So far he’s averaging 21 PPG 9 RPG 2 APG 50% FG 41% 3FG Chol provides a ton of versatility at 6’9 that not a lot of players have, he’s a great athlete who can shoot the ball and is a high level finisher. He also has a really good handle for his height. He’s extremely underrated at the moment but I expect that to change soon.

Today’s #SaturdaySleeper is RHP Sean Matson (Harvard Baseball). Matson this summer was legitimately untouchable, pitching his way to a sparkling 0.00 ERA with 26 K to just 3 BB across 21.2 innings. The Cape League All Star was named the Most Outstanding Relief Pitcher for his performance. The 6’2”, 210-pound righthander attacks from a high-3/4 slot, features a short, quick arm stroke and has some natural deception in his delivery. Matson hides the ball well and is an athletic mover. His FB this summer was sat in the 89-92 MPH range (t94), but it played up due to its riding life (averaged 21.1” of IVB at school) and the fact that it looks like he’s throwing it out of his back pocket. This summer it generated a 29% miss rate. The main attraction with Matson are his secondary offerings. Between his CH and SL, opposing hitters hit a combined .054 (2 total hits, both against the SL). Low-80s SL features tons of sweeping action and he throws it with conviction. 42% miss rate this summer, 60 offering. To round out his arsenal, Matson throws a mid-70s CH that on average is 14+ MPH off his FB. It has plenty of tumbling action and seemingly disappears 1-2 feet in front of the plate. St Bonaventure 6’4 Guard Zach Philipkoski is one of the most underrated players mid major players in college basketball heading into next season. Philipkoski was one of the biggest standouts in D2 where he averaged 18/7/4 on 51/42/88 splits, and was one of the biggest reasons for Daemen finishing with a 33-2 record and being a top seed in the D2 tournament. Philipkoski is an extremely high level shooter and passer who excels at shooting movement shooting, while also being great at getting to his spots and has the ability to shoot anywhere on the court with efficiency. Philipkoski is also an extremely good passer for his archetype, and he has the vision and decision making to consistently find his teammates, and he’s also a high level finisher who’s a strong cutter. Philipkoski’s mix of shooting, passing, finishing, and off ball instincts at 6’4 makes him an extremely valuable and efficient player who impacts winning at a high level. Philipkoski followed his coach to St Bonaventure where he has the potential to be one of the best players in the A10 next season.

Arkansas C Ryder Helfrick was a player who I felt wasn’t getting the attention he deserved out of high school. Crazy hand/wrist strength with the stick. Explosive bat speed and juice to all fields. Good athlete who plays the game extremely hard. Has the positional versatility to be moved to the OF as well. From reports the catching has improved a ton at Arkansas already.
