The Governor said the move was aimed at restoring public safety and deterring criminal elements believed to be hiding among the population. In the now-viral video, Bago was heard saying: “Anybody that you find with dreadlock, arrest him, barb his hair and fine him. “Nobody should carry any kind of haircut again inside here. I have given you marching order, the security agencies, any boy, anybody you find with a weapon, deal with him as an armed robber. “So for parents, warn your children, warn your wards. “From this moment, it’s 100% fire for fire. How far is Saudi Arabia from us? And the Prophet of Allah is not in Saudi Arabia today. We share borders with the Niger Republic, even a shout can be heard between Nigeria and Niger. In Islam, we are one, colonialists are the ones who divided us. Which is closer going from Sokoto to Maiduguri or Kano, and Niger? Yet people accept sightings from Kano, Lagos, or Maiduguri, but reject those from Niger. Some ignorant people even say that those in Niger do not understand the religion. By Allah, they understand the Sunnah better than you. We accept their sighting and we communicate with them.”
