Pewbeam is live 🎉 This was just a dream, a dream I didn’t even know was possible—but I decided to pursue it anyway. Today, that dream is now a reality. We have a desktop app (Windows and macOS—this weekend) that can do all of this and even more. Over the last six months, I’ve pushed myself and my team hard, and I’ve seen people become hopeful and genuinely blessed by this product. I’ve received strong support from pastors, church members, techies, and several media houses and reporters. It has been a great honor to spend myself on something worthwhile. In the words of a member from one of the test churches: “Pewbeam changed the way I follow sermons in church completely.” This is the kind of impact I see Pewbeam having on people’s faith and on how church and worship are done. Pewbeam’s mission is to ensure the Church is not left behind in the AI era. We’re starting with this application, with many more to come in the next few months. We’ll keep working with stakeholders in the Christian faith, collect feedback, and build tools that better support discipleship. And unlike previous waves of technology, I believe we can be among the first movers in this AI revolution. With all that said, the final build of the app is ready, and we’re launching for public download on February 25, 2026. The app has a generous free tier for small churches and fellowships, and a paid plan (location-based pricing) that unlocks unlimited access to all features. Excited to announce I have officially begun production on the first pilot installment of my AI Sci-Fi mini-film series based on my trailer “RE-IN” that I premiered a few months back. With where the tools are at it seemed like it was time to get the ball rolling. We are moving from “concept” to “content” extremely fast and I believe we are almost at the edge. Interestingly, as we have AI agents that run in the background, the speed of AI becomes incrementally less important than the core underlying capability level. When you could only give AI small bits of work, then the speed of response mattered a ton. The rate at which you can go back and forth with AI in real-time was the determining factor on how useful it is. But as AI agents can perform more complex and useful tasks in parallel behind the scenes, you can much more easily afford to wait longer for work to get done assuming it’s valuable. Now the focus becomes more on how you review and orchestrate the agents’ work. And the main factor is just how useful and usable is the output that the agent came back with.

This is very true. AI integration is both hard and necessary for companies. And AI-native junior employees can drive this adoption. Earlier this year Aaron Levie explained with martin_casado on the a16z podcast how AI fluency is one of the most powerful skills a new grad can have. The real value comes from knowing how to make AI work inside an organization. Most companies, both large and small, are slow to adopt new technology. They need people who can explain what AI can do, show them how to use it, and help them move faster. If you are fluent in AI, you can be that person. You can walk into a company, spot the areas where AI can save time or create new opportunities, and make it happen. That is a wedge into your first job and a way to stand out from everyone else.

My Latest AI short was made with Seedance 2.0 the model that has been firing up the internet over the past couple of days. I made this in two and half days and it's an original short that is based on HP Lovecraft's work which is now Public Domain (No Copyright infringement here!). If you are not into period romances then bare with it as it gets a more little action packed in the second half! The model is brilliant at both performance and action, you can now make convincing dialogue and action sequences for AI cinema. With this model we have now reached the stage where we can tell any story we want with AI, the tools are capable. This is only 720p at the moment but I suspect it will be upgraded to 1080p very soon. We stand at the threshold of having broadcast quality tools capable of creating anything we can imagine available to everyone, so lets do new an interesting things with it. I keep thinking that vibe coding does nothing, and instead of wasting time, I build a real product. While you believe it’s impossible to trade arbitrage on five-minute markets, MANUAL CODE can do it. I have already connected data on: - Current Bitcoin price. - Live five-minute pool odds. - Real-time order book. In test mode, the results are already promising. I’m waiting for the next stages of validation, and then it can be launched as a bot with market-based calls. Should I publish this?

Pi was built when there were already agent harnesses around. Here’s why Mario Zechner(Mario Zechner), found them suboptimal and built Pi, a minimalist self-modifying agent: #1 - Mario initially was a believer in Claude Code: "I was a believer in Claude code because they were the first that packaged agentic search up in a really compelling package. And at the time that fit my workflow really well. Everything around the LLM was kind of nice and tidy and easy to understand. I was super happy. I was proselytising Claude code." #2 - Reverse engineering Claude Code highlighted the degradation that Mario felt as a user: "I personally like simple tools that are stable and that I can rely on. Even if they have non-deterministic parts, all the deterministic parts should be as stable as possible. That was just not the experience with Claude Code around summer 2025. They would take away your control of the context. They would inject stuff behind your back, which is bad. Then, your workflows stopped working because there's now a system reminder that you don't even see in the UI that would modify the behaviour of the model. They would also do this to the system prompt. I built a little service where I can track the progression or evolution of the system, prompt and tool definitions and, with every release, it was messing with stuff. That just messed with my workflows and I don't appreciate that." #3 - PI was built with an appreciation for simple and reliable tools: "If I commit to a development tool, I want it to be a stable, reliable thing like a hammer. I don't want my hammer to break a different spot every day. That's terrible. We need somebody who goes the full velocity kind of way. But I don't want to work with a tool like that."

“My ecclesiology does not allow me to sit there and look at what that church has done and judge them, because I don’t know all the details.” ~James White (𝔚𝔥𝔦𝔱𝔢𝔅𝔢𝔞𝔯𝔡) Then proceeds to spend 8 minutes doing the following: ~Repeats internet gossip by unnamed randos saying that Joel Webbon’s Vineyard ministry was pre-conversion, and he seems to operate off this assumption for the duration of the clip ~Casts doubt on Joel’s claims that he was LARPing as a pastor and seems to equate this with Joel saying he was unconverted at the time, which he never did ~Affirms for some reason that the “church” Joel planted was and still is a real church and that he was ordained by the Vineyard “Church,” which is a ridiculous claim to anyone familiar with the Vineyard movement ~Claims that Joel’s spiritual growth from Vineyard to Reformed Baptist is no different than his recent growth in secondary and tertiary areas (e.g., eschatology) ~Questions why Joel continued to pastor after getting saved, post-repentance of sexual sin (Joel never claimed he was unconverted while working on the Vineyard church plant) ~Ignores the fact that Joel did stop pastoring to go through a 9-month ordination program with Acts 29 ~Says it’s not his role to judge how this situation was adjudicated, then continues to judge how this situation was adjudicated ~Compares Joel’s fornication with his girlfriend with that of Robert Morris’ abuse of minor(!), as if there’s a double standard on the part of those that say that Joel is still qualified ~Says he can’t argue with those that say that Joel is disqualified over this ~Says that his concern is only for the two churches involved (San Diego Reformed Church and Covenant Bible Church), both of which knew of Joel’s past and still believe him to be qualified to this day ~Finishes by saying that we will find out the real story soon enough, which to me indicates that he knows more than he lets on James White likes to say that Joel Webbon’s audience will eventually turn on him when he doesn’t go far enough for their tastes, but James literally just stuck a knife in Joel’s back with this struggle session. This is probably the most complex workflow I’ve ever built, only with open-source tools. It took my 4 days. It takes four inputs: author, title, and style; and generates a full visual animated story in one click in ComfyUI . I worked on it for four days. There are still some bugs, but here’s the first preview. Here’s a quick breakdown: - The four inputs are sent to LLMs with precise instructions to generate: first, prompts for images and image modifications; second, prompts for animations; third, prompts for generating music. - All voices are generated from the text and timed precisely, as they determine the length of each animation segment. - The first image and video are generated to serve as the title, but also as the guide for all other images created for the video. - Titles and subtitles are also added automatically in Comfy. - I also developed a lot of custom nodes for minor frame calculations, mostly to match audio and video. - The full system is a large loop that, for each line of text, generates an image and then a video from that image. The loop was the hardest part to build in this workflow, so it can process either a 20-second video or a 2-minute video with the same input. - There are multiple combinations of LLMs that try to understand the text in the best way to provide the best prompts for images and video. - The final video is assembled entirely within ComfyUI. - The music is generated based on the LLM output and matches the exact timing of the full animation. - Done! For reference, this workflow uses a lot of models and only works on an RTX 6000 Pro with plenty of RAM. My goal is not to replace humans, as I’ll try to explain later, this workflow is highly controlled and can be adapted or reworked at any point by real artists! My aim was to create a tool that can animate text in one go, allowing the AI some freedom while keeping a strict flow. I don’t know yet how I’ll share this workflow with people, I still need to polish it properly, but maybe through Patreon. A jaw-on-the-floor moment for the whole team was when we had taught the robot to pick up a baggie and shake a usb-brick out with the left hand. During one rollout, it decided to do it with the right hand—and we all stopped. We were stunned, because no one taught it to do that. This was one of the first models with our pretrained base, and it was the moment we realized there was something here that was very different from what any of us had ever built before. We now know this to be part of the improvisational intelligence that emerges with large-scale pretraining on real manipulation data, and it continues to be one of the things that we believe to be worth pushing forward as capability. Our CTO and cofounder Andy Barry joined Association for Advancing Automation to share more about these moments, and how his time at Boston Dynamics and the Broad Institute drove him to focus on building the 🧠 for robots at Generalist.
