Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have rescued 10 National Examinations Council (NECO) candidates and teachers who were abducted by ISWAP terrorists during an attack on the Technical Secondary School in Lassa Community, Askira/Uba Local Government Area, at about 9:00 a.m. on Monday. The terrorists attacked the school and abducted several students and teachers during exams before fleeing into the surrounding bush. Upon receiving the distress report, the Theatre Command of Operation HADIN KAI immediately launched a search and rescue mission. The NAF deployed both strike aircraft and ISR platforms to support ground troops as they pursued the fleeing terrorists. Troops established contact with the terrorists around the Daggu axis, triggering a fierce firefight. The troops outmanoeuvred the insurgents, inflicting heavy casualties and forcing the fleeing terrorists to abandon some of their captives as they retreated. The operation resulted in the successful rescue of 10 abducted victims, including students and teachers, all of whom were recovered unharmed.

TROOPS ELIMINATE TOP SAMBISA COMMANDER, 10 TERRORISTS IN NIGHT OPERATION Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have recorded a major operational success with the elimination of a senior Boko Haram/ISWAP commander, Abu Khalid, and 10 other terrorists during a night operation in Borno State. In a statement signed by the Media Information Officer Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba says, Abu Khalid, identified as the second-in-command of Boko Haram in the Sambisa Forest, was neutralised by troops of Sector 1, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, during an engagement at the Komala area of Konduga Local Government Area at about 11:00 p.m. The operation came barely 24 hours after the elimination of another notorious commander, Julaibib, in the Gujba axis of the Timbuktu Triangle. Abu Khalid was a key figure in the terrorist hierarchy, responsible for coordinating operations and logistics within the Sambisa axis. Items recovered during the operation included five AK-47 rifles, magazines, bicycles, assorted logistics and food items, as well as large quantities of medical supplies. No casualty was recorded among the troops. Clearance operations are ongoing across the Sambisa Forest, Mandara Mountains, Timbuktu Triangle and other terrorist hideouts in the North-East.

OPERATION HADIN KAI FOILS MASS ABDUCTION ATTEMPT AT FGGC MONGUNO Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Mobile Force (MOPOL), successfully foiled an attempted mass abduction by ISWAP terrorists at the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Monguno, at about 0130 hours (1:30 a.m.) on 19 July 2026. The FGGC facility is currently being utilized by the Borno State Government as temporary hostel accommodation for students of the Federal Polytechnic, Monguno. The terrorists reportedly gained access to the facility with the assistance of suspected collaborators in an attempt to abduct students. Alert security personnel immediately engaged the terrorists with coordinated and overwhelming firepower, effectively stalling their advance with Sector 3 Quick Reaction Force (QRF) immediately reinforcing the school. Confronted by the superior combat capability and determined resistance of the security forces, the terrorists were forced to abandon their criminal mission and flee in confusion without achieving their objective. During the encounter, parts of the school infrastructure sustained damage but the attempt was well contained by troops in conjunction with the Nigeria Police Force personnel. Following the operation, troops successfully rescued and evacuated all 46 students to Kinnasara Barracks, Monguno, where they received immediate medical assessment and appropriate care. TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI CRUSH ISWAP ROADBLOCK, FREES 53 HOSTAGES AND RECOVERS 8 VEHICLES IN BORNO STATE In continuation of the massive onslaught against JAS/ISWAP in the North East region, Sector 2 troops of 135 Special Forces Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI dismantled JAS/ISWAP terrorists road block mounted along road Buratai–Kamuya, in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State rescuing 53 innocent civilians and recovering 8 vehicles on Wednesday, 24 June 2026. The encounter took place when troops deployed at Dutse Kura sighted terrorists blocking the highway through surveillance cameras. A Quick Reaction Force (QRF) team immediately mobilized to the scene and pursued the insurgents toward the Mangari–Dora general area, made contact and engaged the terrorists in a firefight, forcing them to withdraw in confusion. During the operation, troops successfully rescued 53 innocent civilians and also recovered 8 vehicles seized by the terrorists. The troops further advanced to clear the insurgents’ withdrawal route, dominated the area, and conducted further searches, though no additional contact was made. All rescued persons, recovered vehicles and properties were safely moved to Buratai town.The rescued civilians are currently undergoing documentation and medical evaluations. The Theatre Command OPHK commends the professionalism and swift response of the troops. The Command urges all citizens within the Joint Operations Area to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely information regarding any suspicious movements and activities within their domain. TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI CRUSH ISWAP ROADBLOCK, FREES 53 HOSTAGES AND RECOVERS 8 VEHICLES IN BORNO STATE In continuation of the massive onslaught against JAS/ISWAP in the North East region, Sector 2 troops of 135 Special Forces Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI dismantled JAS/ISWAP terrorists road block mounted along road Buratai–Kamuya, in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State rescuing 53 innocent civilians and recovering 8 vehicles on Wednesday, 24 June 2026. The encounter took place when troops deployed at Dutse Kura sighted terrorists blocking the highway through surveillance cameras. A Quick Reaction Force (QRF) team immediately mobilized to the scene and pursued the insurgents toward the Mangari–Dora general area, made contact and engaged the terrorists in a firefight, forcing them to withdraw in confusion. During the operation, troops successfully rescued 53 innocent civilians and also recovered 8 vehicles seized by the terrorists. The troops further advanced to clear the insurgents’ withdrawal route, dominated the area, and conducted further searches, though no additional contact was made. All rescued persons, recovered vehicles and properties were safely moved to Buratai town.The rescued civilians are currently undergoing documentation and medical evaluations. The Theatre Command OPHK commends the professionalism and swift response of the troops. The Command urges all citizens within the Joint Operations Area to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely information regarding any suspicious movements and activities within their domain. The general security situation within the general area remains calm as troops continue to maintain an aggressive posture and dominance in the general area. TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI RESCUE ABDUCTED NECO CANDIDATES IN LASSA, INTENSIFY SEARCH FOR REMAINING VICTIM Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have rescued 10 National Examinations Council (NECO) candidates and teachers abducted during an ISWAP attack on Lassa Community in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State. The attack occurred at about 9:00 a.m. on Monday, 29 June 2026, while students were writing their examinations at the Technical Secondary School. Following the incident, the Theatre Command immediately deployed troops alongside strike and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft from the Air Component of OPHK to support a coordinated search and rescue operation. Guided by aerial surveillance, troops made contact with the terrorists around Daggu, leading to a fierce firefight that resulted in the rescue of the 10 victims, all of whom were unharmed and are receiving appropriate care. Troops outmanoeuvred the fleeing terrorists, inflicted casualties on them and captured seven motorcycles, significantly disrupting their escape. Efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victim. Sadly, one OPHK soldier and a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force paid the supreme sacrifice during the operation. Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders, has intensified operations against the terrorists while reinforcing security around vulnerable communities and schools to prevent similar attacks. The military described the incident as another desperate attempt by terrorist groups under sustained pressure to target soft targets but reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace across the North-East. Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant, provide credible information to security agencies and rely only on official updates regarding the incident.
