On the Bulabulin Forest axis, troops of Sector 2 in conjunction with elements of Sector 2 Stabilisation Force Brigade and the Civilian Joint Task Force cleared terrorist enclaves at Mar, Subdu, Yaro Lawanti and Yaro Shuwari as well as other areas contiguous to the Bulabulin Forest and the Kamadogu Yobe stretch. During the operation, supported by assault air platforms from the Air Component Command, the troops made contact at Malam Shiri Village and engaged the terrorists in a well-coordinated and tactical flanking manoeuvre, neutralising 11 terrorists and forcing others to flee with varying degrees of injuries. All life support structures were subsequently destroyed and exploitation of the area led to the recovery of 9 AK-47 rifles, 3 PKT anti aircraft automatic machine guns, 5 motorcycles, assorted ammunition, and several materials used for Improvised Explosive Devices, thereby significantly disrupting the terrorist logistics and operational capability within the axis. Similarly, at the Timbuktu axis along the Wajiroko Sabongari corridor, troops had further engagements with the terrorists with air support from the Air Component Command of OPHK. The troops with resilience and tactical discipline, maintained positions and decisively dealt with the terrorists. Subsequent exploitation revealed 7 neutralised terrorists, with additional blood trails and body parts indicating significantly higher enemy casualties during the assault. Recovered items include AK-47 rifles, RPG tubes, a large cache of ammunition, bandoliers, and communication equipment. The Air Component Command of OPHK played a very crucial and decisive role in both engagements, providing persistent Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) that enabled accurate target acquisition and real-time situational awareness for ground troops coordinated fire. Precision air interdiction strikes were subsequently conducted by the NAF aircrafts on confirmed terrorist positions and fleeing elements, further decimating scores of the insurgents and ensuring the success of a well synchronised air–land offensive that overwhelmed the adversary. Troops, in conjunction with volunteer forces, are currently conducting aggressive follow-up exploitation operations along the Forfor, Multe, and Wajiroko axes to consolidate gains, pursue fleeing terrorists, and prevent any attempt at regrouping. These successful engagements further reinforce OPHK’s growing operational effectiveness and sustained dominance across the Theatre. OPERATION HADIN KAI TROOPS INTERCEPT FOREIGN SUSPECT, RECOVER ILLICIT DRUGS DESTINED FOR TERRORISTS IN THE LAKE CHAD ISLANDS Troops of Sector 3, Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded another significant operational success in their sustained campaign to degrade the logistical networks supporting terrorist activities in the North East. Acting on intelligence, the troops on Thursday, 9 July 2026, intercepted a suspected foreign terrorist drug courier conveying a large consignment of illicit drugs, alcoholic beverages and other prohibited substances believed to be destined for terrorist elements operating within the Lake Chad Islands. The operation was conducted during an intensive search operations along the Maiduguri–Monguno axis, where troops intercepted a suspicious vehicle travelling towards Kwatan Doron Baga in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State. The suspect, identified as Mrs Rachael Samuel (48), a Chadian national from Kelo in Chari-Baguirmi Province, Republic of Chad, was arrested while conveying the prohibited items. Preliminary findings indicate that the recovered substances were being moved to locations within the Lake Chad Islands, an area known to harbour terrorist elements. Items recovered from the suspect include seven compressed bundles of suspected Cannabis sativa weighing approximately 30 kilogrammes, two 10-litre containers of hydromercuric chloride, popularly known as "Suck and Die," one carton containing 48 bottles of dry gin, 61 bottles of herbal alcoholic beverages all with a market street value approximately running into millions of Naira. Other items recovered include, one mobile phone, two Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, personal effects and cash. The suspect is currently in military custody, while all recovered exhibits have been secured pending handover to the appropriate law enforcement agency for further investigation and prosecution in accordance with extant laws. The successful interception further highlights Operation HADIN KAI's determination to deny terrorists access to logistics and supplies that sustain their criminal activities. Available intelligence has consistently shown that illicit drugs and intoxicants are frequently used by terrorist groups to stimulate fighters, suppress fear and facilitate violent operations. By intercepting the consignment before it reached its destination, the troops have disrupted another critical aspect of the terrorists' support network. The Theatre Command commends the vigilance and professionalism of the troops and assures the public that operations against terrorists and their collaborators will continue relentlessly. The public is encouraged to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies in support of ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and security across the North East. MILITARY DESTROYS ISWAP WATERWAY LOGISTICS NETWORK IN DEVASTATING PRECISION STRIKES, NEUTRALISES SCORES IN LAKE CHAD Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in sustained offensive operations conducted in the night of 21/22 April 2026, delivered devastating precision air strikes that dismantled ISWAP terrorist logistics networks along the Lake Chad waterways around the Kaniram Island axis in Northern Borno State. Acting on credible Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) inputs, OPHK air assets established persistent overhead presence and confirmed the concentration of over 30 terrorist boats and associated terrorist elements coordinating movement and resupply activities. Target validation and positive identification were carefully achieved, ensuring high targeting fidelity prior to engagement. Following deliberate confirmation in line with Rules of Engagement, OPHK executed well-coordinated precision strikes that destroyed several boats and disrupted the terrorists’ logistics hub. This immediately degraded their mobility and ability to sustain operations. Real-time ISR enabled rapid follow-on strikes on fleeing and regrouping elements within nearby vegetation, leading to the neutralisation of over 30 terrorists. Surviving elements were observed escaping in disarray, reflecting a breakdown in their cohesion and command structure. In a related engagement at Sowolwolo in the Sambisa Forest axis, additional precision guided strikes was conducted following target fidelity acquisition with Partners. The strike took out 3 terrorist Gun trucks and neutralised more terrorists within the vicinity. Battle Damage Assessment (BDA), supported by post-strike intelligence, confirmed significant enemy losses, with evidence of mass burial activities especially by ISWAP elements in the Mallam Fatori axis further underscoring the scale of attrition inflicted. Ground forces are currently exploiting the effects of these strikes to dominate adjoining areas and prevent any reconstitution by fleeing elements. These operations highlight OPHK’s sustained offensive pressure and effective air–land integration in dismantling terrorist networks, degrading their capabilities, and denying them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area. The Military High Command commends troops for the impressive battle performance and urged them to sustain aggressive operations to dominate the battlespace. OPHK will continue to maintain relentless pressure on all terrorist elements until they are decisively defeated. SANI UBA Lieutenant Colonel Media Information Officer Headquarters Joint Task Force. TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI RESCUE 92 KIDNAPPED CIVILIANS, FOIL IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE, AMBUSH , IN SWIFT BURATAI RESCUE OPERATION Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have demonstrated their unrelenting commitment to the protection of civilians, executing a swift and decisive rescue operation that freed 92 kidnapped victims from BH/ISWAP terrorists along the Buratai–Kamuya road, Biu Local Government Area, Borno State, on Saturday 23 May 2026. At approximately 1122 hours, alert troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion deployed at Dutse Kura detected BH/ISWAP terrorists forcibly herding civilians and vehicles off the road and into the surrounding bush using their surveillance system. The unit’s Quick Reaction Force was immediately mobilised, while reinforcement troops from 27 Task Force Brigade Garrison were simultaneously activated to join the rescue. Converging on the terrorists in a well-coordinated pursuit towards the Mangari-Dora general area, OPHK troops engaged the insurgents and forced them to abandon their captives and flee in confusion. All 92 kidnapped victims, comprising 52 males, 33 females and 7 children, along with 8 vehicles, were successfully recovered. In a desperate bid to delay the advancing troops, the fleeing terrorists covertly emplaced three IEDs along the Bula Zarma, Mangari general area in a calculated ambush attempt. The plot failed completely. The unit’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team responded with precision and successfully detonated all three devices, clearing the route and enabling troops to press the pursuit approximately five kilometres beyond the Mangari general area. Subsequent search operations were conducted across the area, but the terrorists having abandoned their captives, their vehicles and their tactical objectives had scattered in complete disarray. OPHK troops sustained zero personnel or equipment casualties throughout the operation. The rescued civilians were consolidated, provided immediate welfare support and escorted by troops all the way to Damaturu, where they were released to continue their journey. This operation once again affirms the operational reach, surveillance capability and combat readiness of OPHK and serves as an unambiguous message that any attempt by terrorists to harm, kidnap or intimidate civilians will be met with swift and overwhelming force across the entirety of the North East Theatre.
