After reading African American history, my respect for them multiplied. I admired them from afar especially through the entertainment. But reading what they went through to be where they are today, I’m sure Nigerians would never do such for themselves. Forget banters online. They deserve their flowers.

The foundation of Nigeria is faulty, you can’t fight for such a Nation when fellow citizens wil rise up to fight against you. The black Americans had one purpose, one voice, one goal and one language, that allowed for them to build a cohesive unit that requested for what they wanted. Until y’all unite or separate, you can’t achieve what they achieved.

This idea is not new. Tribalism will not let us fight back. If a Yoruba man is in power, expect a defensive posture from the majority of the Yorubas. If a Muslim man, especially Fulani, is in charge, you will be a traitor for expressing displeasure. We’re doomed!

Saying all of this from abroad is very rich. We missed the boat. Whatever he described would have its equivalence in 1960-70 Nigeria but it’s now 2025. I don’t believe in Nigeria. If you are able to wrap your head around how broken things are, you’ll understand the exhaustion.

Sure we need to do better & demand more of ourselves. 2 things, the civil war didn’t start because “black people fought back” the civil rights movement would have been a better example. Migration has always been a part of life, during the height of the Jim Crow era a lot of black people moved north to avoid discrimination and oppression that still didn’t stop their advocacy. Finally, our issue is still a lack of quality leadership, the migration issue is downstream of that.

Thank you for acknowledging our ancestors who I'm still in awe of. They were true survivors, here in the US. I will NEVER be ashamed to be a descendent of US slaves. It's their endurance & ingenuity that still motivates me to this day.

This is not entirely true. I believed in Nigeria. I love living in Nigeria but Buhari happened. I know how much I trekked to get to my pooling unit to Vote Jonathan. After Buhari took over it was survive or you perish.

Absolutely correct, video ended with one of the most important cause of our problem “Dirty December” We’re always celebrating 220m people, their house is burning and they’re partying. For any right thinking human, it’s sad to be a Nigerian.

While you are making a salient point but the premise of your argument/ analysis is wrong. First white fought against white in civil war for the freedom of blacks yes blacks participated. Segregation puts blacks in severe pain for another 100yrs after. It wasn’t until civil …

What he didn't say is white persons like Abraham lincon from Illinois, Ulysses Grant from Ohion,Franklin Roosevelt from New York, Henry ford etc and other industrialists charged the war against the Southern states because they already adopted booming industrialization, while the south wanna sustain their plantation based economy. So literally it was a war between White vs White, the war wasn't even for social integration of blacks - because the segregation continued for almost 100 years later. The one that could be attributed to Black people fighting back was the civil right movement around 1965 - Martin Luther King Jr, etc - it wasn't a war though.

Every other country in Africa has banned the US or is about to ban the US from entering their country in retaliation for the ban slammed on them but Nigeria won’t ever do that because of dirty December 😂

This sounds fantastic in theory. In practice we all know that the Nigerian experience is way too complex for a "stand up and fight" conversation. Had Nigeria been a nation, this might apply. Is it a hopeless situation, maybe not.

That's what I have been saying Afrikans should learn as much and as fast as possible from the Afrikan diaspora We should reconnect with them as much as possible and try to encourage them to emigrate or invest They know the entire world inside out - they are global.

With the influx of Indians to 🇺🇸 & the rest of the world, we rarely see their own lambasting or talk down on them but when it involves Africans cum Nigerians, you develop a sudden uneasiness. This is self-hate.

War is not the solution, esp in this era. If U clamour for war, be the first to carry guns with your immediate family. Don't foist war on other people Also, the US Civil War was not a black vs. white war. It was btw northern vs southern america over the abolition of slave trade

Many may not realize, but I've been emphasizing for years that the average Nigerian often lacks genuine concern for the nation. Given the chance, some would betray their own for mere pennies. This mindset is a core issue we face as a country. To create positive change,-
