Nine tiny openings. One divine darshan. At Udupi Sri Krishna Matha, devotees behold Balakrishna through the sacred Navagraha Kindi, a silver-plated window with nine openings. Through it, Krishna appears as a child, holding the churning rod and rope. A truly unique way to experience His divine presence.

He's my first love. I was probably 2 or 3 years old. My father had just come back from his training in Mangalore. He has visited Udupi and got a Krishna photo from there with a gold colored frame. I took a glance and that was it. I was mesmerized.

The Navagraha Kindi beautifully reflects India’s temple heritage, where architecture itself becomes part of worship. Its nine openings offer devotees a distinctive darshan of Balakrishna, preserving a remarkable devotional tradition at Udupi Sri Krishna Matha.

In a powerful address to hundreds of devotees at the sacred Chilkur Balaji Temple, temple priest Sri Rangarajan briefed the gathering on the visit of Sri Kuchibotla Anand, founder of Silicon Andhra, who arrived at the temple along with his wife and several associates. Speaking directly to the devotees, Sri Rangarajan said, “Today, Sri Kuchibotla Anand garu and his team have come not merely for darshan but as committed well-wishers in the larger dharmic cause. Their efforts in supporting the protection of our Deities and preservation of temple traditions deserve to be placed before all devotees.” He emphasized that the civilizational goal of Rama Rajya rests firmly on the foundation of Dharma. “Our Constitution, through Article 26, has given sacred protection to religious denominations to manage their own affairs in matters of religion. This is not a decorative provision — it is a living guarantee.” Referring to the continuing national debate after the Indian Young Lawyers Association v. State of Kerala judgment, Sri Rangarajan observed, “Any interpretation that risks diluting the core protections of Article 26 must be approached with great caution. The spiritual traditions of this land have survived for millennia because they were allowed to function in accordance with Dharma.” He called upon devotees to remain aware and engaged. “The responsibility to protect dharmic institutions does not lie with a few — it rests with every devotee who values our sacred traditions.” The address concluded with collective prayers seeking divine blessings for the protection of Dharma and the welfare of society.
