Mad respect for Minister CTR.Nirmalkumar 👏. He's fighting battles on every front to fix the everyday power cut problems in Chennai, even though the department he's handling is in a very bad shape. Everything around this department has been far from normal. hard disks were stolen from the TNEB head office, fuses are being stolen affecting daily operations, a CBI case is going on related to the transformer scam under former minister Senthil Balaji, there aren't enough workers to handle the workload, and the department is sitting on a debt of over ₹1 lakh crore. This is not a small problem. This is a huge mess that has been building up for years. Turning around a department that has suffered from decades of mismanagement under both Dravidian parties is a himalayan task in itself and CTR.Nirmalkumar is trying to do exactly that. At the same time, he is also working on big plans for Tamil Nadu's energy future like solar power, wind power, rooftop solar, green hydrogen, smart grids, and more. He wants to bring in investments, create jobs for Tamil Nadu's youth, and make Tamil Nadu a leader in clean energy. But one person cannot do all of this alone. A kind request to CMOTamilNadu, all ministers, and every TVK MLAs in Chennai, please stand with him and support him. Visit your local EB offices. Talk to the people directly. Make sure there are enough staff, especially at night when power cuts are the worst. Find out why these problems keep happening and fix them from the root. The people of Tamil Nadu are watching. Let's not let them down. Chief Minister Joseph Vijay has started tackling Tamil Nadu's biggest long-term challenge: WATER SCARCITY! Someone recently asked me, "When will Tamil Nadu wake up to the issue of water scarcity?" My response was: "The day Tamil Nadu stops depending on Cauvery water and becomes self-sufficient through its own water creation and conservation projects." According to NITI Aayog's classification of water scarcity based on the Falkenmark Index ( : >1,700 m³/person/year – No water stress 1,000–1,700 m³/person/year – Water stress 500–1,000 m³/person/year – Water scarcity <500 m³/person/year – Absolute water scarcity The projections for Tamil Nadu are particularly concerning. By 2050, almost every district in the state is projected to fall into the "absolute water scarcity" category, with less than 500 m³ per person per year. That is why I am glad to see Chief Minister Joseph Vijay taking genuine steps in this direction. Needless to say, desilting works have already begun (quoted post). I would also request the Chief Minister to revisit the visionary Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) initiative introduced by former Chief Minister Jayalalitha in 2001. It remains one of the most impactful public policy interventions in Tamil Nadu's history and significantly helped address water scarcity. Water security is not just an environmental issue; it is an economic, agricultural and even a national security issue. The more self-sufficient Tamil Nadu becomes in water, the stronger and more resilient the state will be. This video shows Chief Minister Joseph Vijay conducting an on-site inspection of the ongoing expansion works of the seawater desalination project at Nemmeli, near Chennai, before departing from the site.
