Nowadays, it is hard to surprise me with anything in real life, let alone on social media. But what still continues to surprise me, to one degree or another, are the comments on my posts where I show and describe the situation in the cities of my country. No matter how hard some try to insult Ukraine and my people, all these individuals are hiding behind their own cowardice and the realization that they themselves would lack the strength and mental fortitude to walk this path from beginning to end. Writing negative and aggressive comments is the 'ceiling' - the absolute limit for russians and their followers scattered across the globe. Spirit is tempered in battle: for soldiers, it happens on the battlefield; for the civilians of Ukraine, it happens in the struggle against cold and the hardships of daily life. You either become strong or this world devours you - these are the laws that will always be with us. The main thing to remember is that Ukrainians are ready for almost anything because we have vast experience in overcoming adversity. We will be happy to live a peaceful life, but we are always prepared for any challenges that may arise. But are those same people who spew their hatred here ready for such challenges? Of course NOT! If anything similar happened to them, they would tuck their tails and eat out of Putin’s hand.

My independent, socialist campaign for Congress is organizing to stop all ICE raids, stop deportations, and shut down ICE and the detention centers. We need mass protests and civil disobedience, combined with mass strike action by public and private sector unions. The Democratic Party, which has participated in creating and repeatedly funding ICE, is quickly trying to wash their hands of the killing. Rather than use their elected positions to call for and lead mass protests and civil disobedience, top Minnesota Democrats like Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey have urged working people to “remain calm.” Worse, Governor Walz is getting ready to deploy the National Guard. The labor leadership has failed to call for mass protests and strike actions. Instead of organizing an actual fightback, the Democratic Party’s endless list of NGOs are limiting people to candlelight vigils, to tamp down on working-class anger at ICE. My congressional opponent, warmongering Democrat Adam Smith, was among the 88 House Democrats who voted to create ICE in the Homeland Security Act. This should come as no surprise, considering Smith’s anti-worker, pro-war record. Alexander Karp, the CEO of Palantir, a tech company known for their surveillance technology and huge contracts with ICE, has maxed out his donations to Adam Smith. During my time on the Seattle City Council, my office fought for and won a ban on the use of crowd control weapons by the Seattle Police Department in the wake of the murder of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter uprisings. This ban was NOT won by my playing nice with the Democrats on City Council. It was only won because I fought to overcome the opposition of the Democratic Party. I did this by using my office to build fighting movements and lead protesters to peacefully occupy City Hall. That is the type of leadership we need in Congress, and it's the type of leadership we will never find in the Democratic or Republican parties. No matter where you are in the US, if you are angry about this murder by ICE in Minneapolis, if you are angry that billionaires get richer and our lives get harder, we need you to get involved in our campaign to send the first revolutionary socialist to U.S. Congress. I’ve shared this video before, but today it holds extra special significance. Ten years ago today, we began shipping Smart Doll from our home in Meguro, Tokyo - the birthplace of Smart Doll. Reflecting on the past decade, there’s so much I want to share about our journey, the milestones we’ve achieved, and the valuable lessons learned from our failures. We’ve focused on creating dolls with darker skin tones, plus-sized body shapes, and diverse skin characteristics and medical conditions, while striving to make these products readily available worldwide. It’s becoming increasingly clear that relentless pursuit of sales growth does not equate to happiness. Because of this realization, our approach at Smart Doll may not align with the mass market, and we’ve never aimed to dominate the industry solely for the sake of increasing sales. We believe that time is our most valuable asset, not money, and we uphold this philosophy across our entire team. We strive to ensure that our work environment prioritizes the well-being and life balance of every team member, fostering a culture where everyone can thrive, not just survive. I’m so tired of these endless comparisons. Tell me honestly, does it truly matter how much a brand’s items cost? Is love for an artist measured by the numbers on a price tag? Is pride defined by a price list? When Jungkook has a new collaboration, I don’t care who’s wearing what or who outdid whom, I write only about him. And you, by the way, do too. He partnered with Calvin Klein and you called it "oh, just mass market". Then you saw the scale and the way the brand treated him and suddenly you wanted the same for your artists. You dreamed of Chanel, but Chanel chose him. And he didn’t agree for the sake of a prestigious name. He agreed because he felt their history, their aesthetic, their spirit. Jungkook doesn’t accept everything that’s offered. He doesn’t work for status. He chooses what resonates with his inner self. Now it’s Hublot and once again the race begins. Rushing to Rolex, to Patek, asking them to make your artists ambassadors. But why? So you can compare again tomorrow? Sometimes it feels like you stand beside your artists for competition, not for them and there is so little warmth in that. True love celebrates without conditions and without the need to prove anything. Jungkook began working with brands later than the others and I was proud of him at every stage: while in 2023 others were flying to fashion weeks, he was going live from his room and my whole world shrank to the size of my phone screen. I didn’t care who was where, with whom, or how much. We already had what mattered most. We had him. We, his fans, have always had more. Not because of brands, not because of campaigns and certainly not because of flashy titles. We have more because we have Jungkook. A person who spent hours with us. Who sang live for us. Who cooked, laughed, fell asleep and woke up with us on stream. Who shared something real, unfiltered, unscripted, alive. His humanity. His talent. His open gaze and clear mind. JADE delivers a beautiful speech after being awarded the Freedom of the Borough by her hometown, South Tyneside: “I drove here this morning and thought I’d write down a few words because I get really nervous with public speaking. I know I can’t swear, but I am shaking like a [bleeping] dog… It’s not a poem, I don’t know what this is. It just came from the heart: Whenever someone asks me where I’m from, I say: ‘Up North. South Shields. Have you heard of it? It’s next to Newcastle or Sunderland, depending on which team you support.’ ‘Yeah, but… Where are you REALLY from?’ And I know what that *really* means. But I’ll entertain it, since it fills me with pride. I am a ‘little mix’ – of English; Egyptian; a bit of Yemeni. My granddad was an immigrant, touched down in the Mill Dam. I’m from Laygate, where I’d stand outside my granddad’s mosque shouting ‘Eat me carrot!’ instead of ‘Eid Mubarak!’, collecting pound coins to spend at the tuck shop. 34 languages in my primary school. My mam worked there – my very own Diana Ross. That’s where I found my love for music: Motown to musicals, Clubland, and pop. My dad was a taxi driver, nicknamed ‘TickTock’ before TikTok was around. His taxi mates would make sure I’d get home safe after a night out. And now I’ve got my own bar – so we’re gannin oot the neet – where everyone’s welcome: a safer and more accepting space for my LGBTQ+ friends; something we were missing growing up. I’m from the Customs House, where I learned my craft. Where every Boxing Day birthday, we’d watch the little panto with the big heart, and I’d think: ‘One day, I’m gonna make it, and everyone will know where I’m from.’ ‘I can’t believe this is where you’re from!’ my boyfriend says, amazed at the coast line. I’m from my dog’s new favourite place: a cuppa and cookie from Bessy’s van while we walk along the beach in The Leas. ‘Minchella’s is the best ice-cream, y’know,’ I tell him. ‘And this is where you get the best fish and chips. Where every family achievement is celebrated with a Colmans. Every heartbreak is fixed with mince and dumplings.’ Another visit to my nanna’s and granddad’s in Simonside. The kettle was always on; the sandwiches were out. I’m from the place where the people I love the most reside. People I’ve loved and lost; memories stained in all our favourite spots; ashes scattered in the Mill Dam. Well… that’s not all that’s in the water! They say, ‘There’s something in the water. There’s talent in the Tyne. This is a big river, where a small town makes big names. Don’t forget where you’ve come from.’ How can I, when it’s my home? I’m from a place where pride is our passion.
