That is not how you pack a wheel bearing dabbing a little bit of grease on that dry wheel bearing that's going to be a problem within a couple thousand miles you need to pack those bearings

damn so it just needed blinker fluid

Looks like a typical c-clip diff (GM?). No need to pack the bearing. Just dip it in gear oil and install. The finger schmeer of grease is there for lubrication until the gear oil in the diff works its way there. And pre-lube the axle bearing surface as well.

Would’ve been easier to drag the axle shaft on top and right before you pull it out, dip it and grab the bearing and seal or use a slide hammer. Anything is better than a flat head and hammer.

I’m not a mechanic, so maybe I’m completely wrong, but shouldn’t you press the grease into that brand new bearing BEFORE you put it in?

It always fascinates me as to how many parts there are to make up a car
