After despair and sadness early this week we have great news. Brix is off the O2 chamber, and doing amazing. The fluid has drained from his chest and abdomen. He is hungry and feisty. It’s hard to explain the medical stuff here but as simply put as possible- Brix is on antivirals for FIP- though he doesn’t present correctly for it. Brix is going for an echocardiogram tomorrow for his heart as congenital heart disease is possible. He is still a mystery, but he’s so much better.

Brix got really sick, and he almost died last week. After five days in oxygen he turned the corner and was discharged. The hospital team is not 100% sure what made him sick but the most likely diagnosis is FIP. Brix was: Lethargic Not hungry Struggling to breathe Low Platlets Fluid filled body Brix never had: A fever or the correct albumin to globulin ratio for definitive FIP diagnosis. He is on FIP anti viral meds for 42 days

Today was a good day for Brix. All his issues improved or stayed the same without deteriorating. The fluid in his body lessened and he is down to 38% O2 from 50%. His heart sounded and look good on scans. Cancer was ruled out. He is feisty and wants out. Every day where things improve is a step in the right direction. As I wrote on Substack, it gives us hope. Hope is good enough for today.
