The Government is going to begin spraying parts of Renfrew Country with Glyphosate near Ottawa. I hold a land class license to spray commercial chemicals, Glyphosate is a non selective herbicide which means it’s capable of killing every plant at the right dose. It doesn’t affect large conifers to much because they have a waxy protective layer on the needles, but they can kill young ones. What it would do is create a bed of dry dead plants below the trees. Is it contributing to forest fires? It could if sprayed at the wrong times of year.
