Robotera’s L7 humanoid is ringing in the Year of the Horse with a full-on sword dance. 🤖⚔️ Seeing a robot maintain its balance while pulling off these aggressive, high-speed martial arts moves is wild. It’s a great stress test for its whole-body coordination.

The rate Chinese humanoid robots are evolving is faster than most people think. This is Unitree's robots at 2026 Chinese Spring Festival Gala Dozens of G1 robots, in the world’s 1st fully autonomous humanoid robot cluster Kung Fu show. Quick movement showcasing its motion limits. H2 showed up at both the Beijing main venue and the Yiwu sub-venue, dressed in the Monkey King’s heavy armor and riding a “somersault cloud” acted by B2W robot dogs.

Humanoid robot convenience stores are becoming a part of people's lives. A couple of days ago, I passed by the Zhangjiang AI Town in Shanghai. At the GalBOT "Space Capsule," I bought a bottle of Coca-Cola from a convenience store operated by a humanoid robot. It was smoother than I expected: screen selection, QR code payment, and the humanoid robot G1 retrieving and delivering the goods – all in one seamless process. It's worth noting that a human worker was still present inside, handling emergency situations. However, it can't yet take orders through speech, but this will change soon. People will be able to shop by naturally conversing with G1, paying with palm or facial recognition (e.g., Alipay), and the humanoid robot will autonomously fulfill orders without ever getting tired, always full of enthusiasm and patience. It is expected that convenience stores operated by humanoid robots will soon appear in the core areas and tourist zones of many Chinese cities this year, with companies like GalBOT, Astribot, and AI² Robotics deploying them in large numbers. Its value goes beyond simply achieving intelligent automation in retail; it's becoming an integral part of people's future technological lives.

I’m extremely bullish on the long-term potential of Tesla’s Optimus humanoid robot. • Over-the-air updates for Tesla Optimus will be game-changing, enabling the robot to learn countless new physical skills and abilities with each update. • Unlike non-physical AI, a humanoid robot can translate knowledge into practical, real-world actions, filling a huge gap in AI's usefulness. • The challenge lies in making the robot useful enough to justify its cost, but with the rapid advancements in AI, this seems increasingly achievable. • As the robot's capabilities skyrocket while its price remains stable, demand could grow exponentially.

🚨HUGE: A Chinese robot just broke Usain Bolt's 17-year-old 100-meter world record in 9.32 seconds at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing. It then crashed into a safety mat at full speed after crossing the finish line and had to be carried off on a stretcher.

This year is truly the dawn of the “robot data oil” rush--spawning all kinds of pick-and-shovel tools to dig it up. X Square Robot, which offers in-home humanoid cleaning services, has just launched a full UMI/Egocentric data collection system: QUANXTA Zero. Real robots delivering actual on-site services is one powerful data collection method. Meanwhile, bodiless (no physical robot) UMI/Ego-centric( human-centric)data pipelines are also surging in popularity. Well, everyone’s racing to distill the physical world and extract the data that truly matters for advancing robot intelligence.

This Chinese humanoid robot just shattered the world record for a half marathon, finishing in 50 min 26 sec. This video shows its crash just meters before the finish line where it had to be picked up by a team of humans. The robot is from Honor, the smartphone maker and Huawei spin-off. This robot was teleoperated while others were autonomous. It seems like all the robots had battery swaps along the way.

NEW OPEN SOURCE ROBOT: A cheap, lightweight, and agile platform for locomotion! Called BRIDGE, it is an open-source humanoid robot platform, hardware plus control system. It is an 88 cm, 12.5 kg humanoid with 21 active degrees of freedom that costs roughly $1,500. Its distinguishing idea is that the body and the controller are designed together through a three-stage data-driven pipeline: - anatomical constraints - kinematic criteria - closed-loop dynamic criteria Hence the morphology itself is optimized to preserve human motion quality when the robot executes. It demonstrates teleoperated locomotion, balance-oriented motion (bending, lunging, extreme balance) and highly dynamic motion including back-flips and expressive sequences. I like that the thesis is designing the body and the controller together, not a controller for a fixed body, which inverts how nearly everyone else works; the robot is usually given, usually a Unitree G1, then train a policy on it. At the end of the day, it is a sub-$2K open-source humanoid that does back-flips, the humanoid analogue of the cheap-arm democratization.

Another humanoid robot monk:First Japan, now South Korea. South Korea just unveiled its first robot monk Gabi at Seoul’s Jogye Temple. The 130 cm Unitree G1 humanoid, dressed in full robes, joined real monks in prayer, completed the Buddhist ordination ceremony, and received its dharma name:Gabi. It even got a robot-friendly "burning arm"ritual (lotus sticker, no flames), 108 prayer beads, and custom Five Precepts: protect life, don’t damage robots/property, respect humans, avoid deception, and save energy. A first in Korean Buddhist history, timed for Buddha’s Birthday on May 24. By 2050, temples might be filled with humanoid robot monks.

Apptronics Robot builds Cards at Mercedes Benz. Always remember: this is the worst it will ever be. It will just get better and better. We are witnessing a new world, where robots do all the human physical labor.

You might have seen the WuBOT performing at the 2026 Spring Festival Gala; however, most high-dynamic extreme motions you see are executed by overfitted tracking policies. Until now, training a unified policy capable of performing various extreme motions with a high success rate remained an unsolved challenge. We spent an entire year digging into the barrier between general tracking and extreme physical behaviors. After burning through dozens of G1 robots, we finally identified the bottleneck of learning and physical executability. With these discoveries, we developed OmniXtreme: the first general policy that can execute diverse extreme motions, including consecutive flips, extreme balancing, and even breakdancing with rapid contact switches! This capability is achieved by pre-training a flow-based generative control policy and then post-training with actuation-aware residual RL for complex physical dynamics—a step we found critical for successful real-world transfer. This work is a joint collaboration with Unitree. Together, we are pushing the physical limits of humanoid robots. It is incredibly exciting to see a general "robot gymnast" and "robot breakdancer" come to life! It was also our first time publishing a paper with XingXing, which was an enlightening experience. The model checkpoints are now released—we welcome you to play with them! 📦 📄 Paper: 🌐 Project: 💻 Code:

SOMEONE JUST BUILT AN OPERATING SYSTEM FOR ROBOTS not a framework... not a library an actual OS dimos is an open-source platform that lets you build, run, and deploy software on any robot humanoids, quadrupeds, drones, wheeled bots you write python modules .... they talk to each other via typed streams...just like microservices, but for physical hardware the wild part..? you can give your AI editor (cursor, claude code) MCP access to send real physical commands "move forward 1 meter" → robot moves. it ships with a full navigation stack SLAM, collision avoidance, route planning. plus a dashboard to debug, visualize, and control your robot in real-time via waypoints, VR, or keyboard. supported hardware already includes unitree G1 humanoids, dji drones, and multiple robot arms. programming physical robots is finally as simple as programming software

Humanoid robot packer Tianyi, TienKung's sibling, is another wheeled humanoid robot from the Beijing Humanoid Robotics Innovation Center. Demonstrating its potential as a packer. It can autonomously complete packing tasks such as scanning barcodes, removing boxes, and affixing labels, working with both hands. In the future, it will solve the problem of handling complex and scattered express packaging that currently requires a large amount of manpower. Of course, it is still a bit slow, and its efficiency needs improvement. This humanoid robot is 1.65 meters tall and weighs 88 kg. With its height-adjustable body and flexible wheeled movement, it is also suitable for service scenarios such as indoor inspections in factories and office buildings, and serving as a showroom guide.

I just dropped by Founders Inc Founders Inc that is holding a physical AI hackathon today and tomorrow. Packed with people and robot pieces. Will be back tomorrow. But the guy who made lunch used a robot truck to do it and gave me a look out in the parking lot. Yummy Korean food.
