He was not only standing on his own legs but also pawing the ground, as if waiting for the caregiver to bring him food. It was a small sign, but a very important one. He still had strength. And he still wanted to eat. From there, the recovery process began with the most ordinary things. Today would have been my nephew Matthew Perna's 42nd Birthday. If January 6, had never occurred, he would probably be married with a baby or 2. His Dad would still be alive, instead of deteriorating and dying a brokenhearted man, 2 years after Matthew. Matthew loved so many things in his life, one was music. His Dad was a classical pianist and taught him to play. (My Dad was also a pianist, who taught Matthew's Dad and the rest of our family.) He had not played piano for several years, but when he decided to stay near his Dad after his Mom died unexpectedly, he bought a used piano. This is a short video shows him revisiting a classical piece of music that he hadn't played since he was a child. He was determined to get back to playing, so he pulled out the old music books that he was taught from, and started again. After his arrest, he never touched those keys again.💔😢

His name is Argos, and he belongs to Ulysses, the Greek hero also known as Odysseus. Before Ulysses sailed away to fight in the Trojan War, he had raised Argos from a puppy, a fast and beautiful hunting dog. Then the war called, and Ulysses left. He would not come home for twenty years. When Ulysses finally set foot on his own island again, he came in disguise, dressed as a beggar, so that no one would know him. “We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun but the hills that we climbed were just seasons out of time… “ Born in 2002 sired by Gaylord (GY) in an army depot. Rejected by the army for his size and to cover up a botched up eye worm operation. This one eyed little horse was auctioned and bought by a tanga wala. A quick phone call from a Colonel Dahiya to a Colonel Ahlawat about the promise being wasted pulling Tangas all his life saved him from that life. The Colonel saab reluctant to sell his wonder baby had to pay EMIs and he came into my life outta sheer destiny and made my life so much richer. I named him Ranji coz of his one eye like Maharaja Ranjit Singh Gaekwar (Ranji trophy is named after him). Due to his free upbringing by the Colonel he turned out to be a free spirited and a naughty child. He jumped out or crawled out of all kinds of stables we put him in. With his childlike vivacious personality there was never a dull moment with him around. Always wanting to be running free. He jumped that way too. He took me flying over many an obstacle, sometimes with my eyes shut for the scare of it and won me many a medal. He was always way superior to my riding skills at the time but he carried me well. Unfortunately he contacted Laminitis in his prime years. A disease due to which most horses are euthanised. I just gave him some time and thanks to Dr Pheroz Khambatta he bounced back and was jumping again. A very rare case. Many a times complications rose in due course and the horrible question of putting him down raised its head. All I said was “let’s give him some time.” He always bounced back like the little tennis ball he was thanks to his loving grooms over the years, Khem Singh, the many Bhoom Singhs, Revat Singh, Megh Singh and Sumer Singh. Rejected by the army for his size and to cover up a botched up eye worm operation. This one eyed little horse was auctioned and bought by a tanga wala. A quick phone call from a Colonel Dahiya to a Colonel Ahlawat about the promise being wasted pulling Tangas all his life saved him from that life. The Colonel saab reluctant to sell his wonder baby had to pay EMIs and he came into my life outta sheer destiny and made my life so much richer. I named him Ranji coz of his one eye like Maharaja Ranjit Singh Gaekwar (Ranji trophy is named after him). Due to his free upbringing by the Colonel he turned out to be a free spirited and a naughty child. He jumped out or crawled out of all kinds of stables we put him in. With his childlike vivacious personality there was never a dull moment with him around. Always wanting to be running free. He jumped that way too. He took me flying over many an obstacle, sometimes with my eyes shut for the scare of it and won me many a medal. He was always way superior to my riding skills at the time but he carried me well. Unfortunately he contacted Laminitis in his prime years. A disease due to which most horses are euthanised. I just gave him some time and thanks to Dr Pheroz Khambatta he bounced back and was jumping again. A very rare case. Many a times complications rose in due course and the horrible question of putting him down raised its head. All I said was “let’s give him some time.” He always bounced back like the little tennis ball he was thanks to his loving grooms over the years, Khem Singh, the many Bhoom Singhs, Revat Singh, Megh Singh and Sumer Singh. This little tiger lost his mother when he was still very young, so he ended up growing up around bears. After spending so much time with them, he seemed to think he was one of them too. But fitting in wasn’t always easy. Some of the bears would push him away or even steal his food, and the little tiger often found himself alone. There was one bear cub, though, who never treated him differently. The cub stayed close to him, played with him, and was always licking his ears like they were brothers. When the caretaker noticed the tiger being picked on, he decided to separate him from the bears and raise him on his own. But instead of becoming happier, the tiger seemed miserable. He stopped eating properly and even tried to escape, as if he was searching for the family he had grown up with. That’s when the caretaker realized just how much the tiger missed his little bear friend. As soon as the two were reunited, everything changed. Judge Frank Caprio was such a good hearted soul. Always enjoyed seeing him in the courtroom, because he never, ever felt intimidating. He was one of the few people who seemed like he was born to be a judge and lead, because he really did his best to help each person and not just punish. He was strangely comforting in a role that many of us naturally are afraid to be in front of. They called him the "World's Nicest Judge" and he truly deserved it. Found a clip he posted just yesterday on his page before he passed. He asked for prayers but more importantly, to be remembered. And I hope we honor that for him.
