Siphiwe Tshabalala Foundation Brings Relief to Flood-Stricken Families in Limpopo Kaizer Chiefs legend Siphiwe Tshabalala and his foundation have stepped in to assist families devastated by recent flooding in Limpopo, offering much-needed relief to communities hard hit by severe weather. Heavy rains in January triggered widespread flooding across the province, cutting off communities, damaging homes, closing schools and prompting government disaster declarations. Many residents have faced loss of property, displacement and disruptions to daily life. Responding to this crisis, the Siphiwe Tshabalala Foundation delivered aid directly to affected households including essential supplies and support to help families begin the long process of recovery. Tshabalala’s initiative comes amid a broader relief effort across the province, which has seen non-profits, government agencies and civil society groups mobilise resources to assist those in need. Local leaders and residents have welcomed the foundation’s intervention, noting that community-focused efforts play a vital role in bridging gaps where urgent needs remain. With infrastructure damaged and many families still grappling with the impact of the floods, Tshabalala’s support underscores the importance of both high-profile and grassroots action in disaster response. The floods have had a far-reaching impact, disrupting education and infrastructure, and prompting ongoing aid distributions and calls for long-term recovery planning by authorities.

The destruction caused by #AssamFloods is of an unimaginable scale. Over 9 lakh people across 1,800+ villages in 25 districts have been impacted by this calamity. We have lost 41 precious lives till date and thousands of livestock has been washed away. Cloudbursts upstream, coupled with localised heavy rainfall, 436% above normal, have led to flooding in villages that have not seen such devastation in recent history. We are responding with the full strength of a whole-of-government approach. 1️⃣All agencies, from the Indian Air Force and the NDRF to our State machinery, are working round the clock, carrying out rescue and evacuation operations by air and boat. 2️⃣We have set up over 148 relief camps, where close to 30,000 people are currently taking shelter. 3️⃣Our teams are reaching as many affected families as possible with food, drinking water and other essential supplies. In the worst-affected districts alone, over 3,00,000 kg of rice and other essential relief materials have already been delivered, with more on the way. 4️⃣We are working closely with various departments and the Government of India to prepare a comprehensive long-term rehabilitation package for every affected family. 5️⃣ Last but not the least, once the immediate crisis subsides, we will begin a structured dialogue with neighbouring States to establish a stronger coordination mechanism that can better protect our people from the impact of upstream cloudbursts and similar calamities in the future. I'm launching an urgent fundraiser to support engineering equipment for our frontline efforts, and I need your help. Please donate, like, share, and comment—every bit of support is crucial. You can find the donation link at the end of this message. The situation on the front lines is incredibly challenging. Errors by political and military leaders, combined with slow support from the West, have led to significant losses in both territory and lives in the Pokrovsk axis. While we can't always change the decisions made by our leaders, we can make a real difference by providing our soldiers with essential engineering equipment. For instance, I personally have reservations about the operation in Kursk for my own reasons. However, I am fully committed to doing everything I can to save Ukrainian lives during this operation. That’s why one of Liberty Ukraine Foundation 🇺🇸🇺🇦’s excavators is already at work at the new positions on that axis. Our efforts to save soldiers' lives should remain focused regardless of individual opinions on tactical or strategic decisions made by our Ukrainian leadership. Thanks to the fundraising efforts of Liberty Ukraine Foundation 🇺🇸🇺🇦, we have already transferred or are in the process of transferring over 8 excavators. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with engineering, infantry, and artillery units reporting that this equipment is saving many lives. On both the Kursk and Pokrovsk axes, the front lines are constantly shifting, which makes the need for excavating equipment even more critical. This equipment allows our forces to adapt quickly and operate more effectively. Our goal is to raise 🎯 $110,000. I know this is a substantial amount, but we've successfully raised even more in the past, and this equipment is making a significant impact right now. donation link 🔗 Thank you for your support.

𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝗴𝘁𝗶 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝘽𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙘𝙝 𝙔𝙖𝙠𝙟𝙚𝙝𝙩𝙞 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙚 Pir Koh, a sub-tehsil of Dera Bugti in Balochistan, is currently facing a severe humanitarian crisis. Despite its proximity to Sui—home to one of Balochistan’s largest natural gas reserves—the region’s population of over 50,000 people is enduring a crippling shortage of drinking water. This devastating situation, worsened by extreme heat and chronic governmental neglect, has forced families to take to the streets in protest or abandon their ancestral homes in search of water. The continued failure of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHE) to provide a sustainable solution has placed tens of thousands of lives in immediate danger. This is not the result of a natural calamity—it is a man-made disaster caused by decades of state negligence. Despite being the electoral constituency of the current Chief Minister of Balochistan, Pir Koh remains parched and abandoned. Rather than prioritizing the urgent needs of his own community, the Chief Minister appears more concerned with advancing politicized narratives that vilify peaceful citizens. The people of Balochistan have long been denied their most basic rights. If they are not met with violence, they are left to die from thirst, medical neglect, or the breakdown of essential infrastructure. The water crisis in Pir Koh is not an isolated tragedy—it is part of a broader pattern of systemic discrimination and deliberate underdevelopment by the state. We urgently call on the United Nations, UNICEF, Amnesty International, and all relevant international humanitarian organizations to take immediate action in response to this man-made water crisis in Dera Bugti. The people of Pir Koh—and all of Balochistan—deserve access to water, dignity, and protection. The international community must not remain silent.
