Cenk, if you paid the slightest amount of attention you could clearly deduce that I’m not fully Indian. So I do in fact have ancestry in America dating back to the 18th century. But regardless of that—despite my name and what I see when I look in the mirror, my family that has immigrated here has fully assimilated. They came to this country because they love it, so they assimilated, integrated, and became productive members of American society. I have been the beneficiary of immigration to this country, yes, but I can recognize that there are correct and incorrect ways to go about immigration on a systematic and individual level. I can also recognize that there are cultures that are less compatible with American culture than others, therefore making assimilation more difficult. Even more so when you import them here in droves. And I can recognize that the climate when it comes to immigration in this country changes. There have been times in our history where we’ve needed to increase immigration and there have been times where we’ve needed to drastically decrease it. This is one of those times.
