Our water distributions decreased from 300,000 liters across the Gaza Strip to around 200,000 liters per day, donate: The lack of funds means we are having to constantly reduce our distributions. Lowering our distributions is not aligned with a decrease in need. On the contrary, the need in Gaza today is huge in terms of food, water, medical support, tents and more. It is not only the Sameer Project that is struggling but most mutual aid groups that we know and work with have witnessed a massive drop in donations over the last week. International organizations & governments have failed Palestinians in Gaza but this community of Palestinians & our allies is who we depend on. We didn’t stop, we won’t stop! Our daily water distributions in the Central area continue. We distributed 24,000 liters of fresh water yesterday, July 26th. Donate: 8,000 liters to Asqalan camp, 8,000 liters to Karama camp and 8,000 liters to Masdar camp. All these camps are in Deir El Balah. Thanks to your support we’ve been able to increase our 16,000 liters to 24,000 liters multiple times a week providing these overcrowded camps with much needed hydration. There are 57,000 orphans in Gaza due to the ongoing genocide. That is 57,000 children who lost one or both parents. Most Palestinians in Gaza don’t have income help here: let alone vulnerable groups like these orphans who don’t have anyone to provide for them. The reliance for survival is on community kitchens and mutual aid distributions. On October 21st, the Sameer Project distributed 210 rice meals feeding around 500 people in Al Ribat Camp in Khan Younis. With 11% commission, the total cost was $922 so around $4.40 per meal. Now when, out of complete necessity due to the lack of funding, The Sameer Project is forced to stop our water distributions, it will become unimaginable for the families who depend on us. Did you know that the 2 million Palestinians in Gaza are crammed in 25% of the strip? Many people from Khan Younis were displaced to the Central area making camps extremely overcrowded with multiple families sharing one tent. Finding empty space has become extremely difficult. Six days a week the Sameer Project provides 16,000 liters of water per day in Central Gaza. The salinity of the water coming from each truck is checked before distribution for all our water campaigns. The Sameer Project is doing the work we do with a clear aim: the liberation of Palestine. Our decisions with aid distributions are made with that aim in mind, support: Water is life and without water, certain areas in the Gaza are unlivable. So with the drop in donations, the Translating Falasteen (Translating Falasteen (Palestine)) x Sameer Project decided to focus our water campaign to the areas in the far North like Jabalia and Beit Lahia, as well as Tuffah and Zaytoun daily. This will encourage the residents of those areas to come back and for those already there to stay. Our water campaign is an integral part of our work at the Sameer Project. From June 2024 till today, not a day has passed without us distributing water. We would like to increase our water distributions even more but for that we need your help. The Sameer Project used to provide 3,000 rice meals a day, which was reduced to a 1,000 then 500 and now we only do 200 meals a day. This is due to lack of funding and reduction in donations, support: On October 11th, the Sameer Project gave out 200 meals of rice to Al Noor Camp in Qarara, Khan Younis. The cost with 11% commission was $1,151. Each meal feeds 2-3 people so this distribution fed around 500-600 people. The Sameer Project has the capacity to distributed thousands of meals or do multiple community kitchens per day.
