The Sameer Project is doing the work we do with a clear aim: the liberation of Palestine. Our decisions with aid distributions are made with that aim in mind, support: Water is life and without water, certain areas in the Gaza are unlivable. So with the drop in donations,... the Translating Falasteen (Translating Falasteen (Palestine)) x Sameer Project decided to focus our water campaign to the areas in the far North like Jabalia and Beit Lahia, as well as Tuffah and Zaytoun daily. This will encourage the residents of those areas to come back and for those already there to stay. Our water campaign is an integral part of our work at the Sameer Project. The Sameer Project is getting daily calls from camps and areas asking for water trucks. With heavy hearts we had to lower water supply from 300,000 liters to 200,000 liters due to lack of funds! Donate: The only difference between the “ceasefire” and before it is the intensity of bombing decreased. Otherwise barely any aid is getting in, donations dropped drastically and many areas get NO water at all. Our job is to listen to what Palestinians in Gaza are asking for, and to facilitate that help. In the Northern most regions, amidst the rubble and destruction, the first priority is water. Families cannot begin to even think about trying to repopulate the area if they don’t have this basic life necessity. Here, this man from Beit Lahia is pleading for water. He says, “If water exists, everything else will follow.” So what they are asking for is a chance, a chance at life. The water desalinization plant where our team pumps half the water we deliver from was bombed tonight by the occupation forces. Read that again. Israel bombed one of the only remaining sources of water in the entire North. The plant in Al Tuffah is where most water that is supplied to eastern and central Gaza City comes from. It’s gone. Yesterday we delivered 86,000 liters of water. While we await morning to come for a full picture of the situation we know some things for certain: there will not be enough water for everyone, the price of water per liter will increase from the inability to produce it, and the number of diseases from drinking contaminated water will immediately rise.
