Now in beta: Notion as code. Define an entire workspace in TypeScript: teamspaces, databases, custom agents, all of it… then deploy it through the API. Build workspaces with coding agents, version-control your setup in git, and reproduce the same setup anywhere you need it.

I have never seen a company wiggle and writhe like a dying corpse this bad to stay relevant 😭

Version control your Notion setup by checking it in to git. In git, you can review every change, and keep a clear history of how your workspace evolves over time.

Define your Notion setup once. Deploy it wherever you need it. Use the same script across dev, staging, and production. Or recreate a tested setup in another workspace without starting over.

Really cool! How does it sync back with your filesystem?

remember when notion used to be a really good notetaking app? yeah...

This is soooo huge!! Notion DevOps incoming lol

🚢🚢🚢

Notion, the AI research company?

This is why VC isn’t for everyone. Could’ve just grown normally held some high margins and iterated a bit but this is just unnecessary man. They’re only doing to satisfy the amount of equity tied up in a relatively minimally capex business. Figure out how to grow using cash flows, take a loan, raise small angel /VC but for God sake there was no need to raise 3 rounds and nearly $350m - that is what’s driving these stupid ass product decisions.

fascinating, are there plans ship terraform/pulumi providers next?

THIS IS SO COOL!!

We'd love to know what you think. Still working on it!

@HarshitKhemani Please tell me this is idempotent! 🥺

@NotionHQ oo, wdym?

@NotionHQ I want to be able to push the same definition again, notion does the diff and only applies changes. So when i change or add a column, i can do it in my centralized definition. Otherwise its just another place where we can store templates…

@NotionHQ so kind of like git?

I love where this is going. Now we just need a way to sync md files between the local file system and Notion.

Can we make it more visually appealing? Less like a database? Obsidian at least least me pick color themes 😭

We’re experiencing the same thing we did with Nokia - went from wood pulp and paper mill to cellphones.

"reproduce the same setup anywhere you need it" -> is this the groundwork for an agent/app marketplace?

Developers will literally turn a Notion workspace into a fully deployed Kubernetes cluster before they just write something down in a normal document. And honestly... I am 100% here for it. Take my money. 🚀

Obsidian dead. Come back to Notion?

the merge of nocode and yescode is almost complete

Is this an out of season April fools joke?

If you team with a “lab” over open source, why would I ever trust Notion? Serious question. What guarantees of truth, transparency, and openness do you give users? •

It feels good to see Notion is completely rewriting its architecture block by block to become AI-native.

Since you've evolved into an agent, why should I pay for you separately instead of using Claude Code or ChatGPT?

Whoa this is crazy. Super cool.

version controlling a workspace setup in git is the part that finally makes notion usable for real engineering teams.

The truth is we are relying less and less on notion to the point everyone is pushing MD on git repositories. Good luck guys

I saw this coming years ago, mainly why I moved on from building templates with Notion. It all AI automated to the degree. For me personally I've lost the understanding of value for using Notion vs when it first came out. Ever since going to dev direction it been harder to digest what is what

We’ve been doing this for over a year, already. Welcome to the club. 😀 Now, if only you can actually have a “team space” indicator in the API so that databases and pages know where they actually live without having to hack this in (hidden columns), that would be great, thank you!

Literally just reorg'd our entire workspace. And then this drops.

few years back, it was just a note-taking app

'notion as code' is going to unleash a wave of people versioning their second brain in git and honestly good for them. the workspace-as-code era is here

Every new platform creates a new design language.

This is one of your coolest features so far

this is sooooo coool, i think it will act as project management tool for our AI agents and who knows?

ok teamspaces in git is actually nice

they lost their way. that's why I switched to @obsdmd
