The first ship from the Nuestra América flotilla has arrived in Havana, Cuba. Sailing from Mexico for the last 5 days and bearing much needed aid, including medical supplies and sanitary products, it’s part of the Nuestra América convoy. Hundreds of activists from Europe, South America and the United States have joined that convoy, travelling to Cuba to stand in solidarity with the Cuban people as they endure a prolonged, US-imposed energy blockade. Onboard was Brazilian activist Thiago Ávila, no stranger to such flotillas having travelled to Gaza last year in the Global Sumud flotilla. Their attempt to break the siege on the enclave was thwarted by the Israeli military, with hundreds of people taken into Israeli custody. The flotilla “shows that the people of the world will never leave Cuba alone”, Ávila told Novara Media, “And that we do not fear US imperialism, and we don’t accept to be ruled by big banks, the military-industrial complex or the Epstein syndicate. Never.” Ávila went on: “We are going to mobilise for the just causes in this world - just as Cuba always did.” The siege of Cuba has seen rolling blackouts since January 2026, when US president Donald Trump blocked the shipment of oil from Venezuela to the island while threatening sanctions against any country that tried to intervene. That culminated in an island-wide blackout last Monday, and another on Saturday. Now, water supplies in some parts of the country have been affected too. Today I entered Gaza again to report on the situation of humanitarian aid distribution. What I saw was shocking — hundreds of palettes of perishable aid sitting in the hot sun waiting for the UN to distribute. Since last week, the IDF has attempted to fast track more aid into the Gaza Strip through airdrops, pauses in fighting, humanitarian corridors, and opening additional aid crossings. Over 5,000 trucks have entered Gaza since May 19th, and four crossing are now being used, though many of the UN’s trucks have been violently looted by Hamas or other Gaza gangs. The situation is precarious, but with thousands of tons of aid just waiting for delivery, it’s clear that Israel is not the obstacle to getting aid into Gaza.

No footage, no clips, nothing showing them actually handing anything out. But there are plenty of posts showing people in that group staying in hotels that U.S. policy specifically flags because the money goes straight back to the Cuban government. And every time that gets brought up, she just sidesteps it and moves on.

Cuba’s blackout-ridden, Soviet-era power grid becomes a story about American cruelty and heroic solar panels from China, not the regime’s decades of mismanagement. The medical “miracle cures” get the soft-touch treatment too, with no real interrogation of what has actually been proven, what is still experimental, and what is just regime hype. And the doc literally ends with a close-up on The People’s Forum, CODEPINK, a Fidel Castro billboard reading “Fidel, faithful to your legacy,” as Hasan repeats the revolutionary slogan “Patria o muerte, venceremos.” But wait, there’s more.
