The first ship from the Nuestra América flotilla has arrived in Havana, Cuba. Sailing from Mexico for the last 5 days and bearing much needed aid, including medical supplies and sanitary products, it’s part of the Nuestra América convoy. Hundreds of activists from Europe, South America and the United States have joined that convoy, travelling to Cuba to stand in solidarity with the Cuban people as they endure a prolonged, US-imposed energy blockade. What I saw was shocking — hundreds of palettes of perishable aid sitting in the hot sun waiting for the UN to distribute. Since last week, the IDF has attempted to fast track more aid into the Gaza Strip through airdrops, pauses in fighting, humanitarian corridors, and opening additional aid crossings. Over 5,000 trucks have entered Gaza since May 19th, and four crossing are now being used, though many of the UN’s trucks have been violently looted by Hamas or other Gaza gangs. No footage, no clips, nothing showing them actually handing anything out. But there are plenty of posts showing people in that group staying in hotels that U.S. policy specifically flags because the money goes straight back to the Cuban government. And every time that gets brought up, she just sidesteps it and moves on.
