July’s Face of Arkansas is Collin Whittington, the owner of Roasties in Bentonville. They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Collin proved that by turning discarded coffee chaff into fire starters - joining a long line of great Arkansas entrepreneurs and innovators!

The fact that Corbyn takes at face value one person's claim that the IDF delivered boxes of Palestinian skulls, and dead Palestinian bodies with removed organs, to al-Shifa hospital, again shows how antizionism is a totalising anti-Jewish ideology that's impervious to rational discourse - and which turns Jews into demonic figures.

You can just make iPhone widgets that do one thing. That's exactly what sam and I did for one year, and now doing for a new app we dropped called Lyrics. It's a "widget first" app that does just one thing — shows you lyrics from your favorite musician. The widget first approach actually makes things wayyy less complicated, and gives you the most valuable real estate on a person's phone — their home screen.

Hero! Captured in the Barcelona metro, this moment says everything about who we truly are: defined not by fear, but by the compassion and courage we show when a crisis hits. Difficult situations tend to reveal a person's real character, and the solidarity seen here proves exactly that. Choosing to help one another instead of giving in to panic reflects the very best of humanity. Moments like this remind us that real strength often lies in nothing more than the hand we reach out to someone else 🤝

Andrej Karpathy on autoresearch with an untrusted pool of workers: "My designs that incorporate an untrusted pool of workers (into autoresearch) actually look a little bit like a blockchain. Instead of blocks, you have commits, and these commits can build on each other and contain changes to the code as you're improving it. The proof of work is basically doing tons of experimentation to find the commits that work." The idea that distributed & permissionless autoresearch ~= proof-of-useful-work remains a high-level intuition for now, but it is extremely intriguing to say the least. Someone needs to take this further. See QT for more on what's missing.

"One thing that players and coaches mistake all the time is hard work and competitiveness. Working hard is something a lot of people do. But not everybody is wired to compete. You can force someone to work hard. You can't force someone to compete."

Really a lot…But I think there are obviously things Al cannot do. The realm humans can create and the emotion humans can give and the emotion and the realm Al can create those get separated out” so real for this.

We're going to build a city that everyone can afford — and with about 40 days until I become the next mayor of the city, we're hard at work on the transition. (And if that's something you want to be a part of, visit our website!)

Meritocracy: The Core Value That Made America Great Elon Musk: "One of the core values that made America great is being a meritocracy - as much of a meritocracy as possible - such that you get ahead as a function of your hard work and your skill. Nothing else" more than any other place on Earth... America built a system where effort and talent could actually win That's worth defending 🇺🇸

Really cracking into book three now that all the touring is over. Had a few ideas for a title but nothing concrete yet. I need to do quite a bit of research and make sure the dates and my memory are correct. Been playing a bit of Alice Cooper to help out this morning.

Scott Adams on his work ethic Scott Adams “What you see is an insane work ethic. And what I see is that I’ve managed to turn my job, into my hobby, into my passion. …you don’t want to start with passion and then work it into a job. You can do it, but it’s pretty hard. But if you start at a really good job and then you can convert that into a passion, well, now you got something.”

Talent gave me a start. Hard work gave me an edge. But becoming a savage — that’s what built my career. Because talent can open doors, but it won’t keep them open. Hard work sets you apart, but only for a while. It’s the mindset — the relentless, ruthless commitment to growth, pain, and pressure — that turns potential into greatness. Anyone can start with talent. Few have the guts to become a savage.

This looks like leftover wood and brass being thrown on a workbench, but every cut has a reason. He turned rusty junk into a $2,000 lamp — no machine, just hands. The maker turns the wood on a lathe, then uses a custom jig so a router can carve a clean spiral down the column. Brass is melted, shaped, and fitted as the base. Light travels through the hollow core and turns the whole piece into a lamp. A few raw materials and a lot of skill can turn scrap into a $2,000 object people actually want to own....

🇯🇵 This scene does a fantastic job of showing the hard work that goes into farming. I was born in the city but now live in the countryside. Before, I always assumed everything was "natural"... but a lot of its due to the hard work of our fellow citizens and our ancestors.
