EXCLUSIVE: Former NBA first-round pick Royce White says he's declaring for the 2027 WNBA Draft, claiming he now identifies as transgender for the purpose of playing professional basketball. The 6-foot-8 former Houston Rockets draft pick follows fellow former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom, who announced his own plans to declare amid the growing debate over transgender athletes in women's sports. White told Fox News Digital he believes he'd be "unstoppable" in the WNBA and suggested he could pursue legal action if denied an opportunity to play. White said the move is meant to challenge the WNBA to clearly define its eligibility rules for transgender athletes, saying: "I'd like to know what the parameters are."

Former NBA players Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White are testing the logic of women’s sports eligibility after publicly declaring for the WNBA Draft — and Jennifer Sey says the absurdity is exactly the point. "The WNBA is living in 2020. They think they still have support for this ludicrous position — they're being made fools of right now," the XX-XY Athletics founder tells Fox News Digital.

"I am identifying as a woman and I should be allowed to play." Enes Kanter Freedom joined Laura Ingraham to explain his decision to declare for the WNBA draft, saying he's "just following the rules." The WNBA has faced backlash for not directly addressing the issue of what makes someone a woman for purposes of WNBA eligibility. The former NBA player spoke out one night after he was thrown out of a WNBA game he attended as a fan following a heated courtside exchange with Chicago Sky guard Natasha Cloud.

🚨 NOW: The WNBA is reeling after former NBA players Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White — over 250 pounds each — file for the 2027 WNBA draft The ONLY WAY to block either of them from the league is to define "woman" biologically and EXPEL transgenders 😂 ROYCE WHITE: "It's only fair that some of us get a shot...I'm 260 pounds. 6 foot 8." 😭 These are VERY talented women! Instant top draft picks!

Former NBA star Enes Kanter Freedom has declared himself a WNBA prospect, says he meets every requirement necessary. The 6 ft 10 in, 250 pound player says he reviewed the WNBA eligibility criteria and has decided to declare himself eligible for the 2027 WNBA draft. The announcement comes after some WNBA coaches and players have announced their support of men in women’s sports. “My team and I have carefully examined the WNBA’s eligibility criteria and governing framework surrounding self-identification and inclusion,” he said. “Based on the current guidelines, I can and am officially declaring my eligibility for the upcoming WNBA draft in April 2027.” Congratulations!

🚨 THE WNBA STILL CAN’T ANSWER THE QUESTION They created a task force to discuss transgender athletes and “what a woman is.” After the meeting their big announcement was… more meetings. No definition. No eligibility rules. Just lectures about “bad faith fans.” Former NBA players are already saying if the league won’t define a woman, they’re eligible too. A professional women’s league that refuses to defend women’s sports. This is how you kill your own product.

The WNBA says Enes Kanter FREEDOM & Royce White 🇺🇸 are NOT eligible to play in the league. 🏀 Kaylee McGhee White says the obvious question is: Why? If the WNBA admits men aren’t eligible, it’s time to make the standard clear. Women’s sports are for women.

The pressure is building on the WNBA to answer a basic question: Who exactly is eligible to play? Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom makes it official, submitting a letter declaring for the 2027 WNBA Draft as a direct challenge to the league's eligibility rules. "If simply declaring who you are is all that's required, then I meet every single requirement necessary to compete in the WNBA." The move comes as the debate over transgender athletes intensifies around the league, with Indiana Fever's Sophie Cunningham also speaking out about protecting women's sports.

🚨 WNBA IS ABOUT TO BLOW UP OVER BIOLOGY The commissioner just sent a memo admitting the league is getting flooded with questions about transgender athletes in women’s basketball. Her response? “It’s complex and nuanced… we’ll have conversations.” Meanwhile, former NBA players Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White just said they’ll declare for the WNBA draft. Why? Because the league says “women” can play… but refuses to define what a woman is. Stephanie White (Fever coach) claimed she’s “not educated enough” to understand the biological difference between men and women. Dan’s reaction was perfect: “I was a disinterested student and even I get the difference.” This is what happens when a sports league becomes an activist organization first. Expect a biological male on a WNBA roster soon. And expect the fallout to be massive. Women’s sports are for women. Period.

"My pronouns are Pay / Me," ex NBA player Royce White tells me, of his brave & stunning journey to become a woman and join the 2027 WNBA draft. Now named Royesha White, the athlete is challenging the WNBA to face the controversy over biological men in women's sports – and finally define what a "woman" really is. If the WNBA denies Royce White 🇺🇸 the chance to play with his chosen gender, Royce says it would be "tantamount to genocide." His plan is to hold the league to the values it publicly claims - tolerance, inclusiveness, inclusivity - and says support for his bid has been strong privately even if public backing is "still a work in progress." White declared for the 2027 WNBA Draft soon after former NBA center Enes Kanter FREEDOM announced the same intention. The WNBA collective bargaining agreement states that only players who are women are eligible to play, but the league has not yet published a definition of who qualifies. "I'm certainly a Christian still," says Royce, but "sometimes identifying as a black trans lesbian. For basketball purposes." From the August 14, 2026 episode of Ask Dr. Drew w/ Kelly Victory MD

Royce White says he identifies as a woman for the purposes of basketball and plans to declare for the WNBA draft. The response? “He’s not only bizarre, he’s transphobic.” But wait. If gender identity is internal and people are who they say they are, how does this reporter get to decide Royce White’s identity isn’t legitimate? You can’t demand that everyone accept self-identification and then suddenly reject it when someone uses that logic in a way you don’t like. Royce White didn’t create the contradiction. He exposed it. My NLP breakdown 👇

🚨 THE WNBA IS COMPLETELY LOST Sophie Cunningham gets brutally smacked in the face. The player who did it gets ejected… and immediately plays the “white privilege” card. This is the same league still refusing to clearly define who is allowed to play in women’s basketball. Meanwhile former NBA players Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White just declared themselves eligible for the 2027 WNBA draft under current self-ID rules. They’re forcing the issue the league keeps dodging. Either the “W” means women, or it doesn’t. Stop hiding. Make the rule. Protect the sport.

🚨 JUST NOW: Clay Travis says the WNBA is getting CHECKMATED after former NBA players declare for the 2027 WNBA Draft "If [Enes Kanter] is not a woman, then they're going to have to acknowledge that in some way they CAN determine who a woman is!" "They have to allow him to be eligible to play in the WNBA. He is basically calling them out on the absurdity of their position and taking it to its logical conclusion." "Think this is why the Enes Kanter decision was so brilliant — because under the definition of woman as accepted by many different coaches and players, as soon as you say you are a woman, you are just as much of a woman as someone else!" Clay Travis

A second former NBA player plans to join the WNBA. Royce White – a first-round NBA Draft pick in 2012 – told me he will be declaring for the 2027 WNBA Draft. The only thing that will stop him is if the WNBA makes a "definitive statement" that males can't play in the league.

Stephen A. Smith completely CRASHED OUT on the WNBA after seeing former NBA players, Enes Kanter & Royce White, announce that they’re planning to enter the 2027 WNBA Draft 😳😭👀 “If your rules were more finite and clear, you wouldn’t have to have a meeting with team presidents & general managers… We literally are living in a society where there has to be a debate that explicitly states that the league is for women… Do something or SUCK IT UP.”
